I've decided I ought to try and get more involved in the community here to keep me from losing motivation.

My name is Kim and I'm from the UK.

In January I decided that something needed to be done, I had gradually been piling on the pounds for the past couple of years due to unhealthy food choices and lack of exercise. I have always been on the bigger side but had never been so big, I'd gone from a UK 16/18 to 20/22 ... and sometimes 24! My skin also took a massive hit from all the unhealthy foods, which effected my confidence as I had always had clear skin.

My initial motivation was to get fit for when I jet off to New Zealand in August, and whilst that is still true, my main goal is to just be healthier and to look after myself. This isn't about getting slim as fast as possible, this is a lifestyle change. I've had a couple of slip ups between January and now but I have managed to lose 34lbs so far, which I am incredibly proud of. This is the first time I have actually managed to succeed in losing weight!

I've also bought myself an elliptical trainer and 30 day shred (which I haven't managed to complete yet, I keep stopping half way through week 2) and I'm thinking of starting up C25K. I've definitely noticed my fitness level has improved :D

So yeah, I wanted to say Hi! I browse the forums a lot an thought it was high time I joined in.

    Hi Kim!
I just joined this week and am also making an effort to get more involved.

I'm Amy I'm 35 and I live in Washington DC. 3 years ago I was at my ideal weight. Then I got pregnant. My baby girl is now 15 months and the weight hasn't been coming off like I had hoped.

I'm currently a size US10, but I'd like to back to a size US6. I'm trying to lose about 18 pounds.

Tracking my food has been a real eye-opener. I had thought I was doing okay, but I wasn't. I also need to find more time to go run. I love to run. Love it! My dog and I go out about 3 times a week and can easily do 3-4 miles. I"d love to go everyday. I just have a hard time finding the time with two kids, a full time job and a husband who travels often.

I did it once a few years ago, I know I can do it again. I just have to figure out the juggling.

    Nice to meet you!
  • Hi Amy!

I have to say tracking has been a real eye opener for me too! Not only in the sense that I now see the value of food in its nutrition terms but also just how badly I was eating, but thankfully that is in the past now and I have learnt healthier habits!

Congratulations on your baby girl, she's at such a precious age. I have no children myself but I've been broody since forever and I absolutely adore my little neices.

It sounds like you have a lot to juggle around (eek!) but I'm sure with the determination you obviously have you can do it! Just keep on keeping on :-)

    Nice to meet you too!
