Think it depends on how much the baby is eating but roughly 500 calories extra are burned breastfeeding.. I paid attention when my wife was breastfeeding both ours.0

When I was breast feeding I was told that I needed an extra 300 calories in my diet.0

She can consult her doctor, but if her baby is nursing exclusively or "a lot", most sites I've researched suggest an additional 500 calories. I wouldn't skimp - breastfeeding is sooo important if she's able to do it. :flowerforyou:0

This is my 5th pregnancy and I learned in nursing school 300 extra for pregnancy and 500 extra for nursing. The calories be protein mostly and extra calcium. It worked for me last time. I always had plenty of milk and lost weight at a reasonable rate.::bigsmile:0
