Lately I have been comparing myself to other people, I will think. If theyt can do it so can I and I can look like that. Then I think. ..well this person isnt super skinny. Why should I care what others think??? This usually causes me to binge but lately I have had a pretty good control over that. Although I still think. Why do I need to lose weight. Yes I want to be healthier and feel more confident about my looks but I am not obese. And i dont give a crap what others thinik I look like. Anyone have any ideas how to get past this? My goal is to eat healthier and exercise a bit more. Im not dieting or looking for instant huge weight loss.

That's your motivation right there, you want to be healthy. It has nothing to do with what you look like or what others think of you. Do you wake up every day and give your best effort, eat healthy and move so you can have many more days in your life like that? Hopefully that's how you get past it. It's a hard thing to do and I'm working on it myself. Good luck.0 -
I always do really bad when I just say I am going to lose weight, or get in shape. I need a specific goal I am working towards. The first time I did really well and lost 40 pounds was b/c I wanted to run a 5K that was raising money for something I really believed in. So if you are not trying to diet but just get healthier maybe you should set an exercise goal of being able to do a 5k, or 10k or what ever it is you want to do by a certain date.0

I had no particular reason to change my life...I didn't do it[sad] for my daughter's weddings, I didn't do it while married[a WHOLE nother story]. I didn't while I thought I wanted to date, which never happened. I think I am doing it now because it dawned on me that so many people reach their older years unhealthy and bedridden. I have cared for elderly folks, and I have had both springy 100yr olds and chair bound 70yr olds. I have given up the notion of having a partner in life[never say never] so It will be up to me to care for myself. I was heading down a very dark path with my health and I just didn't care. I have, after4months, totally changed my health, quit drinking and exercise daily[mostly] It has been done for nobody but ME,We only get one go around.I was a hotie while young, Didn't even know it, but I had my time to shine. Now I want to be able to enjoy the things I love in the best possible shape ,health wise I can be. So, do it for yourself, your confidence will build, life will look brighter and you may find yourself on the other end of ' wow, why can't I look like her!!! good luck to you. Don't wait0
