How Do I Target Belly Fat?

I don't want to lose anywhere but my belly. Is that even possible?

It's tough being 5'0" because I have no torso and all my fat stores in my belly. I need more time and energy if I'm going to get the flat belly I've always dreamed of having.

I do crunches and other ab exercises, I lift weights, I walk on the treadmill with a full incline to get a better workout and I eat fairly healthy. I don't know what else to do! HELP!

You can't spot reduce unless you want to try something like Lipo

    Nope.

    You've gotta lose fat overall.

Short answer - you can't. Sorry I can't give you a miracle cure (although others will try to sell you one  )

Ab exercises can give you a strong core, but the only way to lose belly fat is to lower your overall body fat % and the fat will come off wherever it wants to in due time - -usually everywhere but where you really want it to, until finally that spot loses the last of its stubborn fat.

Belly fat is particuarly stubborn for some of us. (Ask me how I know :grumble: ) Good luck.

Patience and dedication will get rid of it...Belly fat is very stubborn and is usually the last thing to go...

I lost the most on my stomach doing Jillian's 30 day shred. I think like 6 inches. But I am also 5'6, so I don't know?

i like doing reverse sit ups.
lay on your back with your with your legs at a 90 degree angle in the air and just lift your hips.
you'll definitely feel it in your lower stomach.

Eat at a slight deficit and work out 3-4 times a week.

Youc an't spot reduce. Watch what you eat, drink lots of water, and exercise (cardio and weights).

I do a lot of interval training and running. I have noticed a big difference in my stomach.

    1. Belly fat is often the first and last place fat comes off of. You'll lose a little bit at first, but to get rid of all of it you need to get rid of fat everywhere else.

    2. So, it appears your goal is to improve your body composition. Best way to do this is to eat healthy and exercise HARD and eat healthy. As one poster already mentioned, minimizing carbs is helpful for many people to decrease their overall caloric intake. HIIT is a great way to exercise hard.

No magical way to reduce belly fat, unfortuantely. Your body gets to decide where the fat comes off. The only other thing I'd suggest in addition to what has been said before, is to try pilates. It won't magically get rid of your belly fat, but it will help you get a strong core.

Quit doing crunches and lift heavier weights. Crunches don't really do much.

HIIT or intervals of full body exercises and plyometrics with weights. And eat well. Be patient.

Yup, there is no such thing as spot reducing, so you're going to have to lose fat from all over. Eat a deficit and do some resistance work to maintain muscle alongside your CV workouts whilst you're dieting.

I am in charge of the wellness program at school. We recently got a new nurse/physical trainer and this is the main question that was asked. Most of us have "baby fat" we are trying to loose. He told us us the best thing is any ab strenghening but we MUST do back strengthening also such as reverse crunches. It is important to make both sides strong. There is a lot of things on the internet for examples I am told. I have not looked yet. Best of luck. I am working on the same thing so if I find some that work I will let you know.
