For those discouraged with the scale

I don’t lose pounds like I want to. I never have. The good thing is, I gain muscle quickly and lose body fat. In turn, I lose the inches as my body tightens up. I wanted to post this for all of you that are discouraged by the scale because I have to fight that discouragement daily.
I wanted to post these pics to show a difference in how I look. I’ve only lost about 3 lbs (2 of which before I joined MFP). But I have lost inches. I know the fat will come off as I gain more muscle and continue to do the things I need to do. I work out about 3 days a week and I try to eat right but I am not perfect.
I hope you guys can see the difference LOL. I’m so nervous about posting pics. I guess the point is body fat % going down is better than weight lost initially. And having more muscle will eventually turn into burning fat faster. Don’t fret. This is definitely a process.
This is before (take note of stomach and love handle area)

Using Photobucket, make the IMG into img.
I'm frustrated with the scale, though I have that skinny feeling people talk about.0 -

You do look great! I stopped getting on the scale. It never budges for me either, so maybe I will weigh myself once a month, if that. I am eternally in the higher 160's and it drives me nuts. There is nothing worse than getting on the scale thinking that you are down in LBS, and it just says the same damn #@!!! but I did fit into a pair of size 8 work pants the other day, so I was pleased about that!!!! I couldn't button them last month...0

I just bought a new scale got on it and it says im only down 11 pounds. I have not weighed my self in a month and the last time i did i was down 26 pounds. The scale that I just bought is a digital scale and the other scale i had was a regular scale. is there a difference in them. but I do not think that its accurate that the new scale is saying i gained 15 pounds or was the other scale wrong. I do not know and a lttle frustrated with it. I only fell off for two weeks, too. Can someone help me understand this process I have been on this journey since january. There is difference in my stomach I can fit smaller sizes and people can tell I lost weight. I have read a couple of you guys things and it said you can gain muscle. Is it possible that I am gaining muscle . PLEASE HELP ME0

Well it is definitely possible that you have gained muscle. To me, it sounds like your original scale might have been kind of off though. That seems like a big change in weight. If you are fitting into smaller sizes and you can tell you are getting skinnier in some form or fashion then I wouldn't worry about it too much. The muscle gain will pull in your stomach and thighs and arms even more but it is denser than fat so it does weigh more. I'd concentrate on measurements and body fat % instead of the scale.0 -

Paddle boarding is soooo much fun and if you get someone to teach you how to do it the "right" way, it is a really intense workout for the core and legs!!0 -
thanks for the pics! you look great! i am constantly discouraged by the scale. I get so tired of eating so healthy, working out so hard. getting my sleep etc and i get on that scale and i see that #$%$#%$ 157.2 i am so sick of seeing that number. i know its not all about the number but im dying to be close to a healthy weight for my height (137 is my top weight)0

Does drinking protein smoothies and shakes help as well. I walk and do ab exercise and im also a dancer. I am really focusing on my stomach and thighs. as well. I do not know why the scale that I had that weight. When I weighed myself I weighed it on hard surface so I thik that is why i thought that it was accurate. So are digital scales more accurate than regular scales.0
