looking for a life raft

About a year ago I'd came by here to check things out when some of my weight loss buddies told me about this forum. But I guess I wasn't ready to start all over again on another forum and still missed my old one, even though the atmosphere had completely changed and all my friends and support network had left for other places. I'm not sure how the atmosphere is now but when I last checked they'd completely changed the forum over to one not all that user friendly to save money and it really doesn't seem the same.
Anyway I've been off track for a few years now because of all the stuff that has been going on, a real rough patch. The only real serious attempt I made during this time was for a about a month and I managed to lose 20lbs. Then I was laid off my job and keep saying I'm going to get back on track. Anyway there's more to all this but I think the rest is best saved for a journal.
I'll just end this now by saying I've fought obesity my entire life and with each attempt it gets harder and harder to find the motivation. My weight is so bad that it affects me even doing regular every day things. Just making it to the back of Walmart is a challenge. I'm scared and miserable. I need somewhere to plug in for support and a way to focus, now more than ever and I'm hoping I can do that here.

Ok I'm going to be honest here. I researched and found 3 different weight loss forums and thought I'd post an intro and see which one seemed the most friendly and welcoming. The one I found to be the most annoyingly strict and not user friendly I actually got a response. The second one I go 83 views and absolutely no replies.
And here on fitnesspal I'm not sure how many views but also no response. Honestly that's why I became disheartened in the first place....the forum that had been one of the best places I'd ever received support went from being a group of people holding each other up to a bunch of people who didn't care and would only bother to post in somebody elses journal if you posted on theirs first, and sometimes not even then.
So please tell me this isn't what all the online support forums have become? A place where nobody takes the time to reach out unless somebody else puts in all the effort first? I know when I came here a year ago at a friends request I got a very warm welcome so I'm still hoping. I'm seriously at a place with my health where it's now or never and I really don't want to think my only choice is to just got it alone. So c'mon guys, where's the love?0 -
Oh you'll find support I promise, a friend request is on your way! You can do this, you should do this for you because you deserve it!0

Hey I'm sorry you didn't get a reply,
I'm just new today but I've been sensing friend requests and posting like crazy.
All I can think is maybe your post was at a busy time and it was pushed off the 1st page quickly
Anyway feel free to add me0 -
Sending a friend request. You are not alone in your struggle. It is never to late to adopt a healthy life style. Welcome and hang in there.:flowerforyou:0

There's a lot of support here! I think the key is finding people who have similar goals and want to achieve them in a similar way. Do a search of the groups by age, goals, whatever you can dream up and you'll find some people. If you read the forums, you'll soon see the different goals, too. Send some friend requests...just make sure you send a note with them. There are people who are here for fitness, as well as weight loss. Take a look at the success stories, too. Good luck!0

Hi There everyone is busy and not always have things to say. Welcome, I have been on MFP for a little while and have found it very helpful. But like everything else it is a tool to use. I find this site very helpful to keep me on track, But really it is all up to you.
You can add me as a friend if you like.
Good luck0 -
I'm not sure what was up with the other two forums I was looking into but I'm glad there is still a warm welcoming community here so I'm staying. It'll take me a bit to get used to the forum and navigate around so feel free to give me tips. I've got alot going on right now so might be a week or so for me to get really on track. Thanks guys for the support and friend requests0
