These Net Calories do my head in

I upped my calorie intake to 1400 to be closer to my BMR. I'm having a heck of a time getting anywhere near that and I feel like I'm eating SO much. Once I factor exercise in my net calories linger around just under 1000.

I don't know what to do. I know you're supposed to eat more than that, but I'm having a hard time coming up with ways to stuff myself.

  • It always boggles my mind when I see people unable to hit such low calorie goals. If you're using any low-fat products, such as skim milk, switch to full milk. There are many, many calorie dense foods out there. Nuts/nut butters, oils, fatty meats & fish, etc.

How many calories are you actually eating? Before you take off your exercise calories?

I'm juuust above 1500 before exercise.

Edit: Today is my highest day yet. Normally I'm around 1100 - 1300 before exercise.

Took a quick glance through your diary (lol!) and yeah, you're not eating a ton!

Perhaps throw a couple hard-boiled eggs in there somewhere? Potato salad ? Nuts?

I think I'm just nervous about going high with fatty stuff. I'm trying to get myself to think about eating proper instead of eating less and all that jazz.
  • Fat is nothing to be afraid of. As long as it's not trans fat.

Try protein powder, protein bar, avocado, nuts, peanut butter, salmon, greek yogurt

Heck, one of my protein smoothies will give me about 450 calories, depending on what I put in it!

ETA: You have access to my diary, so don't be shy if you have questions!

Yup! There's good fat and there's bad fat... Eggs are good fat! Especially if you're exercising. And good protein. Muscles gotta rebuild!

Here I go with trying not to think 'low fat low fat low fat'.

At least I love my avacado and eggs. Yum.

I looked at your diary and it looks like you keep skipping your dinner.

Oh - I just reorganized how I had my diary set up and it screwed up all my previous entries. I Always eat my breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with a mid morning snack and an afternoon snack (Aside from yesterday where I ate like crap)

I saw sum1 say whole milk, but I wouldn't drink it whole. Tht has a lot of fat. Try almond milk. It's better for u :) watch it with the eggs too. They have a lot of cholesterol. 2 whole eggs will ab if not totally put u over ur limit. Try 1 whole egg & thn egg whites for the rest. Get you some higher cal fruit, like bananas. Organic pb will help too & it has good fats. I can't give so much advice ab getting higher cuz I have trouble too, but I wanted to say tht ab milk & eggs lol
