back/shoulder injury.

When I was little I fell down a flight of stairs, in the past years I have gotten into a few car accidents (minor ones like spinning into a ditch on icy roads) So I guess it comes as no shock that I have struggled with back problems most of my life. I have found that working out helps reduce the pain (the strengthening of the core I've been told). I go to the Chiropractor (well I just started again) and she told me that it is good that I am working out/strengthening core/back. Anyway my question is, does anyone else struggle with back injuries? and if so how do you cope?
I find right now it is my neck/shoulders that are killing me thus making it difficult to do certain workouts.
any advice?
