Toning the arms

I find working my arms quite addictive. I love it. I just started in February and am already able to bench 25 pound dumb bells, and curl 15 pound ones. I just increase every time I think I can. If I can't finish a set, I get the lesser weight and finish and then try again next time. It's amazing how fast you can increase weight, I started with the 10, 12 and 15 pounders. I'm thinking 30 pounders aren't that far away! I love seeing the definition starting to show in my arms, shoulders and chest, it's totally worth all the hard work. In fact, I hate giving my arms a rest, but I do, I would work them everyday I like it so much!
I like this website for ideas. Simple, but gets the job done: http://www.thetrainingstationinc.com/exercises.html#chest
I also like the face contortion, always happens when I increase my weight on the chest press. I had a guy in the free weights laugh and ask if I wanted to spot him as he was benching 100 pound dumb bells. I told him sure as long as he didn't drop it on my toe!0 -

After quite a few hits, misses, ilnesses and injuries, I'm trying to get back on track. I'm mostly working on cardio and stationary bike riding as I'm terribly out of shape.
The 8 minute arms video was enough to show me how much I've neglected my arms (I focus on lower body exercises as my lower body is well, um...heavier). :noway:
Whew!! I love this forum already.:bigsmile:0 -

Biceps curls, hammer curls, triceps extensions and nosebreakers are great. A fun twist on the biceps curls is 21's. You can search for these exercises online and see how to perform them... might even find some stuff on YouTube.
I LOVE 21's. They really work my beceps. :glasses:0 -
Well, is that honestly heavy and challenging to you?
This is what I'm saying. Not to use 20 lbs but to challenge yourself. At some point after working with 3 lbs for a while, they are no longer going to be really effective.
When I lift, I am sweating up a storm...you should be exerting yourself...In my opinion anyway.
I totally agree. If I'm not grunting at least a little, it's not heavy. That goes for 6, 18, or 15 reps. It should always feel difficult.
I'm right there with you SBS. The last few reps should feel like you can't do any more. If you think you can still do 5 more when you are on your last rep, then it's time to go heavier. At least that's how it is for me.0
