Hey everyone well I am new here and horrible at this type of thing.

Uhm I am looking to lose about 70 pounds and really need help with advice and encouragement. I don't get much of it where I am because the only person willing to encourage me is my Fiance and a few friends, but most everyone tells me I am running towards a dead end with weight loss. I know it is not, but I am easily discouraged and unfortunately I let what people say effect me more than I should.

I do have a blog which is open for everyone to read it is about what I think about and my daily struggles. Things I fight myself over or even just a rant or two. I started it at a different place so all 4 posts in there now are dated for today but it is a daily blog I am doing and I have yet to put in todays. The last one in there my Day 4 is for yesterday the 27th. I am also quitting smoking on this endeavor to lose weight and tackling it all at once which for me isn't as stressful as I thought it would be.

Well..Like I said I am really horrible at starting a Hey I am new here thing and I don't know what else to say...So for those of you who read this thank you for taking the time to read my awkward ramble. :)

Well first the quitting smoking is great! Next you should put together a plan and some short term goals to work towards, like I did. I have a pair of jeans hanging in my bedroom that I have not worn in 12 years to motivate me. I found making a list of all the dislikes I had about my weight and the benefits of reaching my final goal. When you feel yourself getting weak or discouraged review those items. Last the fact that you have a supportive fianace is important. Be sure to include him on your goals and achievements so he can incourage you along the way. Good Luck!

    Hi There,

I am new also. I felt a lot like you with weight loss. My mother was heavy and fought the battle. I assumed I had to follow the same course. This really is getting your mind in the game and making small changes along the way. I have given up soda and now drink water. Sounds like a minor change but it is one I DID. You need to take small steps and build on those successes. One day, one foot in front of the other. By the way, it would give me more gumption if I knew someone doubted my ability in anything. So get that chin up and start with small choices to lead a new life.

Thank you :) I do actually have a list of goals. Though I can't say I can use old clothes for any motivation as when I moved out of state a year ago I left my entire life behind and now only own things that I got from my new home. Pant's don't much help for me either. I don't have any fat on my hips at all it is all in my belly like a spare tire. My Fiance truly is a wonder he honestly doesn't care if I lose the weight or not, but not in a bad way. He wants me to lose it because I want to lose it this journey is for me so I can feel better about myself.

    Thank you Cygnet :)

My upraising...Wasn't the best we were very often belittled...And it has kinda stuck with me into my adulthood. It is a habbit I am trying to break, but brow beat old habbits die very, very hard.

I am new here also. I am looking to lose about 50 pounds. Just started watching my calorie and protein intake yesterday and my daughter told me about this site. She doesn't need to lose weight so I assume she uses the site to keep count of what she is eating so she doesn't gain. I have cut sodas from my diet and have starting walking at least 30 minutes five times a week. I hope to increase the amount of time I walk in the future.

I am trying to eat better so I can get healthy. I am eating small healthy meals with good snacks in between meals. No candies, ice cream, etcetera.

Glad to see I am not the only one new to the site.

Good luck to all of us and God bless each of you.
