how best to know calories when doing those videos?

Hi. I have a variety of videos, from Jillian's Shred to P90x. I have yet to figure out a good way to know calories burned when doing those. I do not yet have a heart monitor...am guessing that is the best way. Until I get one, does anyone have a fairly decent method for calculating calories burned on those? Also, do you usually log them as cardio or strength? There is a lot of interval training in them, which is good. I am guessing to log under calories?

until I got a HRM, I searched the forum and the consensus seems to be to log 30DS (not sure on the others - search the workout dvd name with 'how to log' and it will probably pull it up) as *Ciruit Training - general*0
