The scale and 30 day shred...

So, this is my first post, reaching out to the community. My question is how much water weight is normal to retain after beginning a new workout? This is day 4 of level one on 30ds and my weight has been the same since 4/21. I'm really hoping I'm not hitting a plateau. Kind of wondering, if it is water when should I expect it to GET OUT? lol. I heard sometimes this happens, but I wasn't sure if it would happen since I've been doing Brazil Butt Lift for two months before that.

My other question is, after I finish level one for 10 days should I move to level two even if I can't finish all of the full pushups? Right now at day 4 I can only do a few full pushups before I have to go to doing knee pushups. Thanks!

sometimes when your doing things that build muscle you will not see a change on the scale or you will see a weight gain. do not get discouraged.

look at inches lost instead of weight for 30DS, I've heard that a lot

I don't know the answer to the water question, but I can tell you that I've been doing the 30 DS for nearly a month and am only now on day 4 of Level 2. I decided to only move on when I could do the full push ups and keep up with Natalie instead of Anita. I want to lose the weight at a healthy pace. It didn't get here overnight and it sure isn't coming off overnight!

I have only lost 1 pound so far ... but an inch from my waist and an inch and a half from my hips. Very motivating to me! Hang in there!
  • I am in level 2 of 30DS now and I know how you feel. While I did level one I started gaining weight and it was really disheartening. I ended up gaining about 2 lbs and hovered around that for about 2 weeks. Today I just broke through and lost 1.6 lbs!! You really need to just stick with it. The weight will start coming off eventually. Take your measurements too! I lost inches when I wasn't losing weight!! And I only did level 1 for 8 days...I never could do the full push ups, but I just felt like I wasn't getting much out of it anymore so I kicked it up a notch! Level 2 is a LOT harder for me. The cardio is killer! There's a lot of jumping involved. Just do what works for you. If you feel you can move on then move on. Good luck!!

I moved on after the 10 days for each level (I still do alot of the pushups on my knees) I'm almost done with level three, I haven't lost much weight during the month, but I took a waist measurement today and I've lost 3 inches! I also feel like my butt is a bit firmer! Good stuff!!

I actually gained 2 pounds when I first started 30 Day Shred. I stuck with it and completed the entire 30 days. At the end, I lost the two pounds I gained plus 6 more. I also lost 8 inches while doing the program. I moved to the next level after 10 days, and I STILL can't do more than 4 pushups on my feet! My suggestion is for you to move on to the next level even if you have to modify your pushups.

Be sure to measure yourself and not focus too much on the the scale. I did two rounds (30 day per round of ) of 30 Day Shred. I lost inches vs. weight. As far as when you should progress to the next level, listen to your body. I did 10 days of Level 1 and then did seven days of Level 2. I had to stop on the seventh day because the planks from this level were killing me so I went back to Level 1. I did bypass Level 2 and went to Level 3 on the last week of my 30-Day Shred round. Level 3 is really fun. Overall, your posture and endurance will greatly improve. Plus, this DVD is the foundation to progress to other Jillian workouts such as Ripped in 30. i wish you great success! Good Luck!
  • Wow! I am so thankful for all your responses! This website is awesome:bigsmile: I should look at it like at least I haven't gained weight, staying the same is better than gaining. I think I'll wait until I've done day 10 to decide whether or not to move on. I feel great by the way. Thanks again everyone, you are all awesome!
