So confused on what to do! I have had a wicked sore throat ( with white spots on tonsils), body aches, sinus pressure, runny nose, dry cough, head ache, chills, and I have stayed at 103 temp. I have been taking Tylenol Cold symptom and have almost drunk half a bottle in a day, I have taken ibuprofen, numbing throat drops, etc ( i am being careful about when and how often i take stuff!) but I am not feeling any better at all. I feel okay in the mornings after a nice steaming shower but as the day goes on its almost unbearable! I start my first ever full time job on May the 7th, I cannot miss work! I have a Steroid pack left over from when I had pneumonia. should I tough it out and take that (takes about 6 days to finish) or should i go to the hospital? My hubby just got over his bronchitis ( he went to ER and they gave him antibiotics and the same steroid pack) Im just worried it is my pneumonia again any suggestions?

Hi hun,
I would really go see a doctor. The white bumps on the back of your throat sounds like Strep Throat. It has to be treated with Antibiotics (not steroids) for it to go away. I was deathly ill once because I had strep and didn't go to the doctor (fever of 104). After going and getting antibiotics I was better in 2 days. Please don't put this off. Here's some info on strep. I hope you feel better.

ok, im gonna go right now. Especially if they can give me something to make me feel better in just a couple of days! I just hate this hospital because in early march of this year i went to the hospital and they actually told me i had pneumonia and sent me home. That night I couldn't breathe so I was rushed to a different hospital and they told me I had pneumonia that filled up my right lung. Scary spent over a week in the hospital. I had never had pneumonia in my life! And to be honset this crap I have now hurts 10 times worse So I am going to have to trael like 40 minutes to the next nearest hospital. thanks for the suggestions guys!0

When I read the first op I thought YES! GET YOURSELF TO A DOCTOR!
So, I am relieved to read you went in to the hospital. whew!
One time, many, many years ago, I was starting a job at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Detroit, MI branch. I was so excited that I got hired and could not wait to start working.
Then the week of my first day, you guessed it: SICK.
I was really nervous because, come on, who calls in sick before they even start the damn job??!
But what could I do? I couldn't go in as sick as I was. I called in, talked to the supervisor and she just told me not to worry about it and my job would be waiting for me when I felt better.
All that worrying for nothing!
So, the moral to my story is: sometimes things will work out. Do what you gotta do (stay home if you're sick!!) call your work talk to the person who hired you or human relation dept. or whoever. You might be surprised!
Good luck to you, feel better.
s.k.
PS: that was my first ever full time job too.0 -
It was a severe case of strep throat! They gave me two steroid shots ( already kicking in ) and antibiotics. Im sweaty so I know my fever is breaking!0
