Did I burn calories fast or is it just water weight?

Okay, so I'm kinda obsessed with weighing myself and I (of course) weighed myself before one of the most intense jogs in my life tonight. I ran for 30 minutes and sweated like a pig. When I got back, I weighed myself after a cold shower and found that I had lost about a pound. Is this most likely water weight from the sweat, or did I literally burn off like 8 ounces?
It seems like kind of a stupid question but I want to know this so that I know when I should be inputting my weight each day, before or after my workouts. I don't want to be doing a victory dance at the end of the day when it was just water weight haha

    well stop the dance then ... it was water.
    and theres no sense in weighing yourself multiple times a day ... stick to once a week, first thing in the morning ... unless you just like driving yourself crazy
  • Thanks for knocking some sense into me! I held on to the little glimmer that I could be majorly burning fat off but I knew it was most likely the opposite. Oh well :p

    keep up the exercise routine and eventually when you get on that scale and the number is lower it will be actual pounds lost .. good luck!

    When I was training for a marathon, they told us to weigh ourselves before and after a run. If we weighed less afterward, that meant we hadn't drunk enough water. So if you're looking for a healthy way to channel your obsession (if there is such a thing), then if you weigh less after, drink more water!

    And don't be surprised if you gain a little weight after a tough workout (the next few days). Your body can retain water as it repairs muscles.

    Enter you weight first thing in the morning, after you empty your bladder.
