Yes. It works really well, but only if you're extremely careful about how you resume eating solid foods and expect that it will be a two steps forward, one step back with the weight lost. For a lot of people, it's more of a mental kickstart to a different way of eating than actual, sustainable weight loss. It helps me get back to eating more cleanly and kick junk food cravings.
  • I see, how would you go about resuming your solid food intake?

Sometimes I drink half a cup before breakfast. It tastes good, I like it.
  • From what I understand, you only drink juice of fruits and vegetables for a week/weeks. Someone I know has lost weight doing this, but when she went off the diet, she gained it all right back. It's not a healthy way to lose weight anyways, in my opinion.

Oh! That sounds like a poop fest waiting to happen.

I basically started slowly introducing raw foods and then added lean proteins and more normal, but still very "clean," eating. The entire thing lasted about 8 weeks, from walking down to the juice diet, the juice portion itself, and walking back up to food.

It's important to make sure there is veg in your juice, and a lot of the juice diets also include 1 bottle of cashew milk or similar. Also it is important to walk yourself down to it, eating very clean in the days leading up to it with lots of fresh fruit and veg.

Like I said, you'll see weight loss but be prepared to put at least half of it back on once you start eating more normally again. Think of it more as a kick-start to a different approach to eating rather than a way to quickly shed and keep off pounds.

Juice diet? Are you referring to the kashrut, the body of juice law dealing with what foods juice can and cannot eat and how those foods must be prepared and eaten? it's a complex subject, but if you Google "kosher", you'll find a wealth of information. Good luck!
  • Ok I did not give all info on this, I am not planning on doing this i've struggled with eating disorders my teenage years and part of my adult life the way i see if i do this its like i'm going back to consuming laxatives or starving myself. No, no i learned my lesson I have lost weight the right way, i'm eating properly and i'm working out.

My coworkers started this little competition to lose weight one of them seems to be doing good he's lowered his food intake and is losing it the right way. The other one however not only is he staying way below his net intake but he is also starting this "juice detox" i dnt think he has all the facts and i would hate to see something bad happen to him and from what i'm reading i dnt think he is doing it the right way. I just wanted to know how to approach this with him

Frankly, unless he asks your advice, I don't think his body is any of your business.

this is true, i guess i'm just concerned and i should probably stay out of it.
  • Well, if he is a friend, I would tell him your concern for his health. I would want my friends to speak up if they thought I was being unhealthy. If you are just acquaintances/coworkers, I probably wouldn't say anything too much.

So if I see someone about to get hit by a bus I should not intervene right? Just making sure.

Every body's different. Maybe the dude is unbreakable. Or maybe his body told him that a bus can't hurt him.

I read this on a poster once: "If you love someone, let them get hit by a bus. If they die, they were never really your friend."
