From a motivational post somewhere on this site: "If you are not willing to wok hard for it, maybe you don't deserve it." I say this to myself every morning when I get up and exercise before my kids get up.

You have to want it more than you want anything else.

You have to want it more than you want free time
You have to want it more than you want to stay sweat-free
You have to want it more than you want the simplicity of fast food
You have to want it more than the joy of eating at a party
You have to want it more than you want that extra glass of wine
You have to want it more than you want to watch that TV show
You have to want it more than you want that big brunch

You have to want it enough to spend way more time in the grocery store than most people
You have to want it enough to ensure there is always something healthy to eat
You have to want it enough to get your sweat on more days than not in a week
You have to want it enough to devote a good chunk of time and attention to your body and health
You have to want it enough to say no to anything you didn't plan for
You have to want it enough to see your daughter follow suit and learn to make a lifetime of healthy choices

Most of the time I want it that badly. Sometimes I want the donut. meh...

Every day is a new opportunity to decide how badly you want it.

i felt unmotivated for 2-3 weeks. then i Put on some pants and realized how frigging tight they were. that was my motivation. I snapped out of it as soon as I felt how damn tight they were. and don't feel like buying any bigger clothes.

I bought a pair of jeans a couple weeks ago, small size....I keep a pair of my big jeans in my closet where I can see them. I never want to go back.

What I do is everyday when I log on I type on my profile what my goals are for that day, that way my friends can kick me in the butt if I don't get it done.

If you want to add me you can, I really help to try and keep my friends motivated.

Good luck, you can do this!!

Its quite simple really..how bad do you want it? If you want it bad enough, then you'll do what it takes to get there. Not saying its easy. Its a grind and requires dedication and lots of motivating yourself. Maybe its that next size down in clothes or an inch on a measuring tape or a few pounds on the scale or a fast walk that makes you feel good every day for 5 days...start small and it will lead to bigger things.

I think a lot of people want to "lose weight and FEEL GREAT!!" but stop short of recognizing that their current behavior is actually what's making them feel bad. For the longest time, I just kept giving up on losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. But then I realized that I don't have an alternative. When I'm overweight and eating crap, I feel bad. I feel unhappy. If I ever want to feel better, then the only avenue is taking care of those problems.

Someone once told me that motivation comes and goes, but commitment is what will carry you through to your goal. Motivation determines whether you WANT to do it, commitment determines if you WILL. Commitment will get you off the couch whether you want to or not.

So don't worry about being motivated, just appreciate it when it happens to be there. And it's rarely there when you want it most. So you need commitment during those times. Make the decision to do it and don't give yourself the option to not do it.
