oh my I thought I was the only one. I seem to concentrate better if I focus about 5-10 ft in front of me. I guess the more experience I have with running the more I will be able to look around0

I look down...I am afraid of tripping and falling.0

I look in front of me... occasionally taking in the sights around me because that's one of the great pleasures of running for me. I did go to a running clinic where they said to be sure not to look way up ahead while going up a hill because you crank your neck back too far. I think it screws with your ability to breathe as deeply as you should.
On the many paved trails around here I still keep an eye out quite a bit because there are branches that scatter onto the trail.0
