What percentage of each should I be eating?

I keep hearing a lot about changing food to 40%40%20% rule. Is it 40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20% fat?

    I had a really hard time with that. I'm working towards it tho. Right now, I've got my macros set to 50/30/20 - 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat. Mind you, every time I have avocado, and I love them, so I eat them a lot, I'm over on fat. 20% is really small amount of fat and 40% is really a lot of protein.

    That's kind of what I was thinking. I just changed mine this morning and I'm wondering how in the world I'm going to be able to eat that much protein without going over on my fat and sodium. It will take a lot of trial and error to really figure it out.
