I have been vegetarian for almost six years now. When I stopped eating meat I lost about 20 pounds but most of that was because it cut out allot of fast food. I have noticed I eat allot of carbs but I only eat whole wheat/whole grain bread and brown rice.

I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem ?
Anyone know recipes that are lo carb ?

I had this problem and I'm still working on it. I replaced bread with crisp bread (it has less carbs.. well, less everything, really).

Try joining a group on here called "happy herbivores", there's a lot of threads there about this.

I did have this problem so I ended up adding dairy, eggs and seafood back into my diet. It's probably not the answer you're looking for though.

I'm pescatarian and I eat steamed veg instead of rice with dishes.

You'll find some of my recipes here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Gosser

If you are eating carbs to make up your calories try eating more protein and veg instead (nuts are great for catching up on calories)

    I'm vegetarian!

    For the sake of definition:

    Veggie: no meat no fish

vegan; no meat no fish no dairy products

    pescatarian: no meat.

    another defintion: no red meat

Drives me nuts all the different sorts of "vegetarian" we have here

I'm a vegan, and consume lots of healthy carbs. When I eat my healthy grains, I pick lower GI ones, like Quinoa and bulger. I don't use wraps, or breads or buns. I put my veggie or chic-pea burgers on a bead of spinach or spring mix greens, add some sunflower or pumpkin seeds and a few strawberries. Pick low GI fruits and grains- that will help reduce the carb load.

Maybe try making some recipes with coconut or Almond flour instead of wheat flour. A lot of Paleo recipes can be eaten by veggies. They're high in protein and fat but low carbs. Cauliflower rice is a sub I use all of the time now too.

I stopped being veggie after 18 years BTW and have lost more weight than when on my high carb veggie diet. Good luck!
