work out HR too high - does it matter?

I got me a shiny new HRM yesterday - went out for my run this morning, and it spent the whole 20 mins beeping at me that my heat rate was too high:/
it says that my HR "zone" is between 120-155bpm, and other than the first 2 mins, my HR stayed comfortably between 155-165.
I don't feel that I'm working that hard - in fact I always thought I was a bit lazy on my runs;) I do get out of breath, red & sweaty (I don't count it as exercise otherwise!), but I could still hold a conversation, albeit a breathless one, and it's more of pink and sheen of sweat than red and dripping!
I'm not very fit yet - my resting HR is somewhere around 80......
Does it matter that I am exceeding my recommended HR when I exercise?

Does your HR go back down quickly? Its prob nothing to worry about, but you might want to check with your doctor.
Mine often gets into the 160s when I push myself during my intervals During a good workout it stays in the 150's and my cool downs it goes into the 100's. I've gotten into the 170's before during a tough workout but that makes me feel a little light headed lol.
I think my resting heart rate is about 88 bpm. I'm 35 and in good health.0 -
This makes me feel odd, my HR is always between 180-200 when I workout. I do push myself pretty hard in my workouts, but then again my resting HR is a little over 100.0

my HR goes down again nice and quickly:)
I just wondered if it really mattered that it was going a bit high. - anyone with more knowledge about HR? When I do other exercise it will probably go even higher. It doesn't *feel* worringly high but I know nothing......0 -
I would turn off the alarm setting! I'm not a doctor, but I'd say it's totally fine to be between 155-165, that's what mine usually is when I run. It should get better with time - it's definitely harder for me to get my HR up as I high as it used to go.0
