Hey guys,
I stopped eating meat at the beginning of the year, and it's one of the best things I have ever done, I feel so much better! The only downside is I feel like I eat the same things every day. Does anyone have any good vegetarian recipes? I need some variety.

Hey friend! I'm a longtime vegetarian/vegan. Sometimes I feel like I eat the same things everyday, too, but I am content with that. It makes it easier for me at work to just leave healthy things here, but when I'm at home for dinner I usually try to mix it up. Indian food is great because most of the dishes are vegetarian (but warning, contain lots of oil), also you can make endless types of salads, smoothies, etc... Just be careful because it is hard to be a HEALTHY vegetarian/vegan sometimes!!! When I first switched, I gained like 20 pounds because all i ate was packaged/processed foods (I was the only vegetarian in my whole family, so I had to fend for myself at 12 years old lol!). So another recommendation is to eat as much fresh fruits and veggies as possible! You can make it more exciting by eating stuff like hummus with celery/carrots/bell pepper, etc... it's a great snack!0

Thanks! I do eat a lot of veggies, fruits, and hummus (yum). Fake meats have been the best thing in the world for me. I substitute it into lasagna, tacos, all kinds of fun stuff. And I was the same way, at first I gained weight because I realized that I could still eat veggie pizza, and fried vegetables lol bad idea. I'm finally getting better, and my biggest struggle is getting enough protein every day. It's getting a little easier, but I definitely need to find some new foods....0

I have been a vegetarian for 3 years. I love to cook. I experiment all the time with different recipes. If you enjoy cooking and lots of different veggies, you have it made. I make soups, salads, wraps, stir-fries, enchiladas, italian pastas, roasted veggies, vegetable shishkabobs, fritattas. I have found lots of recipes on skinnytaste.com (vegetarian section), food network has some vegetarian stuff but it is not lo-cal, cleaneatingmag.com is great, Whole Foods website has good recipes, sparkpeople site has some good ones I have tried lately also try vegetarian times ( but they have some wacky ingredients). Feel free to look at my diary. If there is anything that sounds good, I'll be happy to share recipes.0

I had a 31 year love affair with meat. Recently, in March, as part of my diet to get in wedding shape, I decided to cut out meat for as long as possible. So far it's been much easier then I thought it would be. I don't think I'll never eat meat again but it certainly makes it much easier for dieting.
I've lost 20 pounds in 2 months with another 10 to go.
You can eat so much more vegetables and fruit while maintaining a low cal diet. it's much harder than if you include meat in your diet.
I usually just head to the store, pick up some vegetable and proteins like beans or lentils, and then figure out what I can make with them when I get home. I've stumbled upon some great recipies that way.
Good luck0 -
hiya, I am.
If you want to look at my dairy it is open. I try and eat a range of foods. Sometimes it is the same but I try and mix it up.0 -
I am a newbie to the vegetarian lifestyle, under a year here, and I have the same problems, eating bad because I do not know what to eat and not getting enough protein. HELP!0

Hey there,
I've been Veggie for a while now but when we first cut out meat we added a lot of cheese and bread. Tasty yes....healthy no. Since then I've kind of learned how to be veggie while still getting protein and fiber, but not over fatting or carbing myself. Some great veg friendly resources are:
vegkitchen.com
peasandthankyou.com
and yummly.com (they have all kinds of recipes but have a great veg friendly recipe database)
You can also do an advanced search on sites such as allrecipes.com for veg friendly recipes, or hit up some cook books. I love Peas and Thank you by Sarah Matheny (which might just be my favorite) and the Happy Herbivore Series (but HH is vegan).
Feel free to add me veggies gotta stick together!0 -
I've been a vegetarian for almost 20 years now (wow, i'm getting old) I also cut dairy out of my diet a year ago, am rather suprised at how little I miss it (thought that no cheese in my life would be the end of me
Feel free to add me, always great to have someone to swap recipes with0
