am I doing something wrong?!

so according to this "diet doctor" article and many other calculations, I'm supposed to eat about 2200 cals/day for weight loss. going by a goal of 1lb/week and eating most of my exercise cals, I've been eating between 1500 and 2200 per day for about 2 months (more than I used to). Been stuck at around a 4 pound gain for a month since upping my cals. I'm still trying to be patient, since I'm preferring this whole being able to eat more and have more energy/good moods thing. I know some may be water weight from my revved up exercise routine, but it's been a month since I reinvigorated my routine (bit more cardio and heavier weights), so am I doing something wrong? I know sometimes I give into my sweet tooth, but most of the time my macros are at a good range and my carbs aren't high. (I hate low carb, it makes me sad and gassy!) And i only have 1-4 low cal alcoholic drinks 1 or 2 nights a week. I am seeing some more tone/definition, but haven't lost any inches or pounds. Input please!

well, I've heard it said on here a dozen or more times, when stuck at a plateau, try eating more. give yourself another 100-200 calories a day, see how that feels after a week

and you seem to be doing a really great job of staying close to your macros, but i see a few days where you are 200-300 or so cals under your goal. that's a lot left on the plate that your body is asking for.

and if you are seeing definition and tone, then it sounds like you're doing something right, who cares about 4 pounds when they look good, amirite?

Are you doing heavy lifting? I started doing that recently and I'm finding more and more that the scale is just not a good representation of your progress when you're lifting. You're gaining muscle; that's an increase in weight, but it's not a bad thing! (weird concept, I know!)

Here are two great blog posts that describe situations that show how the scale doesn't necessarily reflect progress:

The more that women get into weight lifting, the more we're starting to realize this! Screw the scale!!! :D Good luck, hun! <3

yup, lifting heavy w/p90x. used to lift heavy a couple years ago, stopped, and now starting up again. I love my muscles! (Schwarzenager voice) I just hope I thin out/get lean eventually.
