Ok so i just got a fitbit today and i used it for like 4 hours and it tracked like 1400 calories burned. How do i keep track of my calories from zumba or walking seperate from my all day calorie burned? Also do i just add my stuff onto mfp and it will automatically go to FB? How do i add my exercise through FB? this is all to confusing for me.lol If anyone can help Id so appreciate it because as of now, i dont see it helping me. It was sitting on edge of my couch and it said i burned 25 calories? how is that possible? and what other calorie trackers are there that are accurate? thanks in advace.

  • I will tell you what I do...some people do it differently, but i'm efficient (lazy) and have Fitbit log most of my exercise.

first of all, Fitbit numbers will be slightly different from MFP because the Fitbit will give you calories burned for just existing today. Hence the 25 calories while sitting on the couch arm. Throughout the day, even if you layed on the couch all day, your calories burned total will increase.
now, if you work out like a maniac like i do, that number will increase substantially. As long as you have your fitbit linked to your MFP account, you will get exercise credit on your food diary.

I do not log anything manually on fitbit. it does it for me.
now, with that being said, I do manually log my circuit training on MFP. Because I'm not "flailing about" my fitbit does not know that I'm busting my *kitten* and therefore doesn't give me an accurate burn. So, I log my circuit training on MFP and then it tells fitbit that yes, during that timeframe I was a monster at the gym.

does any of this make sense? I don't really use the fitbit site except to check my sleep quality and see where i'm ranked among my friends. Any and all logging I do is on MFP and I let them tell Fitbit.

ok so pretty much as long as my fitbit is synced to my mfp, just continue doing everything i did with my mfp..mfp will log my foods onto my fitbit? Ok im going to test it out all day tomorrow and see how it works. guess ill just check my calories burned before a workout and then get the difference when im done...think it will take me a bit to get use to...

I record my activities. Hold down the button for 2 seconds before your workout, then for 2 seconds when you're done.
