Running my first 5K tomorrow morning

I hope to attain one of my main goals that I set last year when I began losing weight, giving a big amount of credit to My Fitness Pal. I am running a 5K tomorrow morning - I've done this about 10 times on my own, and recently have got my times down around 8 minute miles (7.5 mph). My goal is to finish around or under 26 minutes. I'll report back next week on my time.

You'll have fun and do great! I wish you great weather and great time. Sounds like you're definitely ready. I ran 2 5Ks in the last month, and I'm preparing for a 10K. I wish I could keep up with your time. Enjoy!

GOOD LUCK! I actually ran my first 5K last weekend. I am slow - but slow and steady wins the race. My goal was under 36 minutes and I made it in at 35:40. Your pace is great! The cheering crowd will get you through the rough spots.

Completed course in 22:13 - the leaders apparently cut the corner and the course ended up around 2.85 - 2.9 miles, definitely short of complete 5K. However, I kept my pace and was averaging a 7:56 mile at Mile Marker #2. I finished 26th in my age group (40-49 male) and 389th overall. It was a good day and I plan to run a few more 5K's this year.

Thank you all for the encouragement!!!

I had been building up my endurance over the past 8 months and recently tried to improve my pace. My wife and I purchased a treadmill before Christmas and I really think that it helped me get stronger. I have also been talking to a friend who is a distance runner and he gave me some advice on how to build up to the race during the last 2-3 weeks.
