Haven't been near as active as I should be lately. Mostly due to my job. Taken on some new responsibilities. Anyways, it is preventing me from getting in here and checking on my friends and seeing how others are doing. I thought one of the problems might be that I had way too many people in my friends list, so I thought I would cut it down to a level I can interact with.

Have you ever tried to do that? Not as easy as it seems. Start finding reasons for everyone to be on that list. She's my daughters age. He rides. That girl lives 50 miles away. He's funny. She's got a great rack. She is married to a Marine. He likes soccer. Couldn't do it. So I deleted everyone.

Thought I would limit it to 12 in the future. Figured on the first 9 that realized I was no longer on their list and maybe 3 new friends. It's a very humbling experience. Took almost 4 weeks to get my friend list up to 12. Took that long for 9 people to realize I was missing. Tells me I've not been a very good friend.

I'll do better from now on. I'm recharged.

oh my "god"! i remember you, just a few months back, posting a forum about the same thing.

this is your second attempt, that i am aware of, at letting everyone know what a loser and quitter you are. i truly hope no one ever accepts a friend request from you. you are manic, bi-polar, multiple personality, something........

oh well, those of you who were lucky enough to be deleted, live and learn!

Wow! Guess I didn't do a very good job of articulating myself or you just really don't like me. Well, if it's me, I'm sorry. I don't even know you.

wow...wasn't MyFitnessPal a support site last time I checked?

When my friends on MyFitnessPal struggle, I don't see the need to kick them when they're down. I have had a few people leave due to their own personal issues and then later come back, if they are able to. Not sure how that would make someone a loser or why you feel it's necessary to call people names. And no, I don't know the OP at all...just an observation.

    Agreed!

I have people on my friend list that haven't logged in for over 9 months. It doesn't cost me anything to keep them as friends.

    Some people... sheesh.

Welcome Back Road Dog! You are a great Pal. :flowerforyou:

I get what you were trying to do OP as far as a managable list. And you were I were never friends so it doesnt affect me.
However this is exactly why I am no longer adding friends. Its all about 'me me me'. 'What can my friends do for me?'
Did you ever stop to consider what you may have offered those friends that you deleted?
I have been deleted by friends with similar goals that I followed very closely. People that seemed to me were going through a hard time and I was on their pages daily just to see if there was something I could offer. Or people that were just plain inspirational. Simply because I don't interact with them enough for their liking.
It really sucks and it shows me that my friendship was clearly not valuble to them.
People (myself included) open up here. Weight loss carries a lot of emotions. And when I pick friends to share that little bit of my life with I would hope they would have enough respect not to delete me like a number.
You can use MFP however you choose. But friendship is a two way street and I plan to be there for mine. Even if they are not stroking my fitness ego.

It didn't come across as joking, just nasty and rude. However, it's hard to tell "tone" on the Internet. Maybe I was wrong.

I read this quote somewhere, but I can't remember where...

"To have good friends first you have to be one."

Personally, I prefer to have a small circle of close friends. It just works better for me and I feel more comfortable that way.

Guess I blew that, huh? Really didn't convey what I meant. My bad. In the future, I will save any serious stuff for my personal page. So only people on my friends list can respond.

On the boards I will stick with what I am good at. Sarcasm, jokes and sexual innuendo.

In the words of my last girlfriend -- "It's not you; it's me."

She posted a second comment laughing saying "this" to the other person who said she was joking and didn't even know him.

Wow... Road Dog you deleted me a long time ago and I noticed but this person is a A-hole! I think you are a cool enough guy and an incredible father.

Sorry, but this one touched a nerve.

    1. Go educate yourself
    2. This is a supportive community.

@ TheRoadDog, I wish you the best of luck in meeting your goals. Stuff happens, and sometimes people need a new beginning. Wanting a small but close circle is understandable; it's possible to feel lonely in a room full of people.

    Cheers
