just great..........this is part of the story that im giving the link to below:

"itting at the top of [Reactor 4], in a pool that is cracked, leaking, and precarious even without an earthquake, are 1,565 fuel rods (give or take a few), some of them 'fresh fuel' that was ready to go into the reactor on the morning of March 11 when the earthquake and tsunami hit," writes Consolo. "If they are MOX fuel, containing six percent plutonium, one fuel rod has the potential to kill 2.89 billion people."

While I don't doubt that the nuclear crisis is not over....I'm a bit iffy about this particular source for information on the matter.

True, as it takes very, very little plutonium to kill a person. However, I doubt that you could actually distribute that plutonium over a large enough area to affect that many people.

I find the title of this thread alone hard to comprehend as news - we ARE all going to die. Plutonium poisoning is as good a way to go as several other options.

Edit: Also, what does that mean, "IF they are MOX fuel. . ." This author is trying to scare us without even knowing for sure what is in the rods?
