Have you asked her to stop spamming your wall? Also did you know that you can edit your settings so what she posts does not appear on your wall?
While I do not neccessarily believe what you typed as mean, I think perhaps if you did not want to be "spammed" you could have done stuff to avoid it

Not at all... you were very polite, and you explained why. IF she gets her feelings hurt than thats on her not you.

I think your response was fine.

It's one thing to post status updates about how much you love whatever program you're using. Seems perfectly normal to me for anyone to get all excited about something that's working for you and wanting to share it with everyone you know - even more so if you're actually selling the product and want to make a profit. BUT to push it on you like that is a bit much, especially with those assumptions tacked on.

Your response was very polite and to the point. I don't see anything mean with it.
Anyone that spams my FB page gets hidden. I don't remove them as a friend but hide them on page.

lol, my friends wife did the same thing when she commented that she had lost 70 lbs, and I comment me too. she acted interested just lomg enough to pitch me on some strange weight loss MLM. I laughed and asked her what she was going to do when she stopped eating the planned meals for this company. and she said never, it's great and their only $3 a meal. I told her I was going to continue going to the gym and eating regular food and drinking beer and going out.... she stopped bothering me because I'm losing weight while living a normal life instead of relying on a company for all my food needs.

Same problem with my Aunt who is a Beachbody Coach. She doesn't even know that I am working out and eating healthy to lose weight and I pretty much ignore her posts because she is family. It sucks because instead of bonding with her about weight loss and exercise, I feel like I have to hide from her. Blah!

Yeah, I'm not trading my wine and Fun Dip for a Body By Vi shake. I know, it's awesome because you "still get to eat sweet stuff!" (she posted that this morning), but so do I. Fun Dip and wine. And Cadbury eggs. Which are way better than a protein shake, I don't care what anyone says!

Bless my mom's heart, she saw it and got all offended (because you know, she's one of those moms that thinks that even when I was 62 pounds heavier I was skinny and perfect and all hot and stuff....) and said "The last thing she needs is to lose weight! I think someone needs to take her kids for a bit, throw her phone away, and let her take a NAP. That's what she needs! She works too hard."

Awwwwwwwww..... I owe my mom a little something extra this Mother's Day!

This is exactly how I feel.

I'm a real estate agent. Commission based career. I do not sell people stuff on my wall. Or on their walls. If they contact me with questions because they have heard that I'm licensed, fantastic. But I have a business page, just like someone else mentioned. If you are interested in real estate, follow me there. If not, that's okay. And I do NOT send individual invites to all of my friends for my page, either. I'm just not a pushy salesperson.

Maybe I should start posting financing links and houses for sale on her wall....

Could have just said - no thanks, please stop soliciting on my face book wall...

Or just hide them from facebook after you have told her that.

The above would have been the passive way or not "mean" way of doing it.

You did it aggressively which is the way people should communicate, you left nothing in question but if you at all care about the friendship you may have considered the passive way of handling it.

Me on the other hand, I have removed family from facebook and have blocked them on email if they continue to do something that I request they not. For example, an aunt would constantly spam my facebook and email with invites from her church and I emailed her back very simply put "please stop sending me invites I am not interested, but thank you" she took that as oh send more. So I removed her and blocked.

I have the same problem from an aunt who sells Avon - it gets annoying. I have just learned to ignore her. It isn't always easy, but since she is my aunt, I feel I can't be "mean" about it. It does get annoying that all of our presents anymore are Avon stuff. Just because she sells it, doesn't mean everyone likes it. I do order from her when I want something, but that doesn't mean I want something all the time.

I usually feel gratitude when my family members buy me presents, even if they are from Avon.

Nobody owes me any presents, so I just say thank you when someone buys me something. My momma told me that if you are grateful for gifts, people want to be nice to you more often.

my partner recently got "unfriended" on FaceBook by his lifelong friends because they were spamming everyone over some "live forever" vitamin pyramid scheme they're all into. My partner, tired of constantly being told to try this product, posted several links to valid scientific studies about how the vitamins don't work, a page that showed the vitamin company did all their own studies and skewed the results, and to an article that showed that the company's "Doctor" spokeperson is actually just an actor, and a video to the actor laughing about how people think he's a real doctor.

They got SUPER offended over that.

These health programs and vitamins and miracle products people get so excited about

annoy the living **** out of me.

My grandparents are currently on something called "Limu" and it is ALL they talk about.....

How funny! That's exactly how it goes down on this site. OUTRAGEOUS claims are made, "It cured my migraines, my skin is so much healthier, these nutrients fight cancer" but they are never backed up and if you call someone out on it they get very offended. Saying if you don't have something nice to say about whatever product they're pimping you shoud keep your opinion to yourself.

I'm sorry. I love this site and I won't let it become a wasteland of BS advertising.

The Herbalife protein shake bar I go to is not as extreme, but he always looks at me weird when I mention some type of "crap food" I've eaten recently.

Him: "Yeah, I have women come in here and tell me they aren't losing weight, but gaining, and they blame in on the shakes. But it's usually because they come in here carrying a bag from McDonald's."

Me: "Oh, yeah, I know what you mean! I mean, I get the nugget kids meal, because it's only like 330 calories total (plus a drink, which for me is just water) and that way I can have some french fries but not go overboard on lunch."

*Blank stare and crickets* He was in total disbelief that I admitted to eating fast food.

He also looked at me very skeptically when I mentioned the giant box of Fun Dip in my cubicle. Oh well....

Absolutely not! You were direct and honest.

I'll share a personal story with you. A few years ago, when I was in school, I got involved with a person-to-person marketing "pyramid" business. I won't mention any names (Amway) but the sales tactics we were encouraged to use were pretty agressive. Good products or not, as a seller I was quite annoyed when my team leader encouraged me to ALWAYS check in with my Facebook friends by emailing/messaging/texting and also call every few months. I admit I dipped my toe in the bombard your Facebook friends like crazy but I didn't feel right and I pulled that toe out almost immediately! I found more success selling to strangers on eBay/Amazon and also being patient and having people come to me when they wanted to buy stuff.

In these types of "businesses" the team leaders teach that "Every no gets you closer to a yes" and the result is to get people under them to NON-STOP live and breathe these products.

If your friend wants to make money on her side business regardless of what it is -- BeachBody, Body by Vi, Isagenix, Mary Kay, Avon, Amway, etc. -- she should not pressure you and make you feel like all she sees you as is a cash cow. If she is good at selling, she will be patient and find otherways to sell by being an example of how great her products work or selling on sites like ebay or Amazon.

No harm in telling her NO loud and clear, although as fair warning, she will probably not listen!

My husband does a lot of lifting and drinks them daily. I roll my eyes nearly every time. He does just plain jane stuff. I get fancy ones, like "Oreo Mocha" or "Smores". And it replaced something like a McDonald's mocha frappe, which is pure crap food. (But so goooooooooooddddddd........)

I agree with everyone- you were not too mean- I have a friend who I purged completely from my life because she was ALWAYS selling something- Mary K, her own marketing services, Arbon, vacation rentals- AND she was bi-polar and refused to take her meds. I started to dread every phone call!!!!

Funny story though, years after I purged her, I got married and invited a mutual female friend to my wedding "with guest".. having no idea I had intentionally purged girl X, she invited her as her guest- I had to call her and explain that I purposly had not invited girl X that we were no longer friends and I wanted to keep it that way... very uncomfortable phone call, but I could not stand the thought of having that pyscho at my wedding!!!

I don't think you were out of line at all. I mean, I had it happen to me in the past few months, but luckily it was via pm so I didn't have to say anything on my own wall. Honestly, I delete them when people put them on my wall. They can spam up their own walls with that junk & leave mine alone! I sell Mary Kay & Thirty-One...I have separate pages for both for that very reason...
