The healthy kind of weight is going to be muscle. So he will have to lift weights or something like that to add muscle. Protein Powders are good, they make some for people that want to gain weight...they have a lot of calories and not all good calories. Some might be high in fat or sugar. Smoothies can be good with fruits, yogurt, protein powder...other good snacks to add would be nuts, jerky. I use to have that problem, wish I still did:happy:

    Is his weight un-healthy?

Eat calorie dense food. Like nuts instead of cottage cheese for a snack. Or maybe some leftover chicken for a snack.

no, actually he falls into the 1 percentile. But what worries me is that he easily loses weight.. I think he looks too skinny. If he gets a cold a does not eat well it shows right away.

My husband is 6'2" and was 155 lbs from the day I met him, only recently has he gained any weight (6 lbs..ooh, Im scared..lol).

You can feed him whatever you want, but like my husband discovered, he worked real hard for about 6 months, eating every few hours and getting his exercise in and he gained a little weight but we went on vacation and he lost the weight without trying. Some people are meant to be long and lean, as frustrating as that may be to you or them that is how they are built. My husband eats like a fool and we figure the only reason he gained any weight at all is he quit smoking and his new job has a lot of sweets around and he eats a whole carton of Ben & Jerry's every night , but one week at the gym and he is back to his usual 155.

He did like the Men's Health Hard Body Plan, he thought it was an excellent tool to help guide long lean men into gaining a little bulk.

  • When I first joined the military I was 6'2" and 145 lbs. I could eat anything and never gain any weight. Sadly that's no longer true 12 years later. I ballooned up to 260 at my max and am currently about to break under 230. I'd like to get back down to 195-205.

I notice that when I eat peanut butter, chicken wings, or ice cream I'll pack on the pounds worse than any other fattening food I can think of. High sodium foods (curry, gumbo, hot sauce, etc) make me bloat up and retain water weight badly. I'd make up a lot of various snacks that include a variety of the above to get him started gaining weight in a healthy manner. Peanut butter is extremely high in fat, but it's a healthy fat and also rich in protein!
