Looking for a pedometer. Has anyone tried a Striiv?

Hi y'all,
So, I saw this cool looking pedometer thingy, Striiv, on the email list for 24 hour fitness clubs. I was wondering if anyone on here tried it? It looks really fun. Track your steps and your stairs and help others (through charities that match your steps and stairs, etc.). Play a game, moving in the game is related to the steps you take, etc. Has anyone here tried it?

I seem to be losing interest in exercising and thought that this might remind me to move. I love exercise when I'm already moving but the getting up and doing it part seems to be harder since Saturday. I know, only 3 days, but it's making me concerned.

Anyways, I was wondering what you thought? Hope to be in touch soon. :flowerforyou:

Best, A
PS This is my first post and I hope that it will interest others. It's been a hard week and it's only Tuesday so please be kind! Thanks for reading.

Haven't tried it, but I've seen it before and thought it was a cute idea. A bit more expensive than a poor college student wants to fork out, though, so I haven't gotten one to play around with. I'm interested to see if anyone around here has tried it.

Good point! I hear you, Ttopeka. I'm a grad student actually. . . and yet, I think I'd be willing to fork over the $ if it meant I'd be more interested in working out again. . . if it's gonna break on me in a week, though, I am totally not willing to give it a try / find the money. . .

I've worn one version or the other of FitBit since last summer. A few weeks ago, I grabbed a Striiv, frankly, relying heavily on Amazon's generous return policy. Bottom-line: If I lost my FitBit today, I'd be annoyed, primarily per the $$ aspect. But if I lost my Striiv, I'd likely break a nail, banging out an overnight-delivery order for replacement. THAT's how crucial it's become to me.

The FitBit tosses out sterile numbers, and a growing/shrinking flower, throughout the day, all of which leads to an "I SHOULD move more." By contrast, the Striiv tosses concrete challenges, yielding an "I CAN move, now!" conclusion, with resulting action. Eg, 200 steps within 20 minutes; 2 more minutes of activity within 15 minutes. The challenges appear when you turn on the screen; or, you can "spin" challenges, Las Vegas style, and choose between the items presented in easy, medium or hard categories. In addition, you can "race" a device-based character, such as trying to beat it up so many climbed stairs within a certain period of time.

There's more, but my fave is donating my bonus points -- a day's worth of pure clean water for a kid in S America, a polio shot, or preserving a parking-space sized slot of the rain forest for a year.

In a word, addicting! For the first time in my 50-odd years, I'm consistently exercising, as in, no more yoyo routines. The device is not perfect. Little buggies pop up now & then. But I've found customer support (no voicemail tree/jungle) to be absolutely superb.

I just have a question....I do video exercise tapes with sideway moves. Which one would work better for that?
