Sooooo, I made a couple friends on here. One is in med school and the other in law school (also a 3L about to take her bar)... I think it'd be good if we can all help each other get through the epic depression that will be our lives until July 25th.

It's been a huge source of comfort having a 3L friend on here who seems to know that I have better things to do than run and count calories when I have a trial to prep for and stuff like that. I think our priorities are a bit different and, other than med students, i think a lot of people can't grasp the hell we go through.

So yeah, if you're a law student who is trying to get in shape so the 20 lbs you gained in law school doesn't show by the time you finish the bar... LET'S BE FRIENDS, PLEASE!!!!

(ps- I hope I posted this in the right place)

Only a 2L here, but I still have the same goal and difficulties! In fact, I'm hoping to get to my goal weight and have all my diet and exercise nailed down by the fall semester (definitely possible if I keep going) so I don't have to think about it as much. Figure out that whole "balance" thing, haha!

I was in fairly good shape when I took the bar, but life got a hold of me not so long after... Took me years to get on track with being healthy, exercising and keeping off the weight. If you can do it now with all the stress, you will have a big leg up on life. Best of luck with the test AND with your healthy lifestyle!
  • good luck. 1L starting my summer internship in a few weeks at a large firm! :)

intimidation is the under-statement of the year, man. i am def freaking out. so far, i've gathered the following from past cal bar takers:

do not speak to anyone (give yourself 3 people and that's it)
    stay sober
workout no more and no less than 60 mins a day
    make sure to sleep
    eat right
now is not the time to make big changes to your life or make giant life decisions, in general

let me know if I've missed anything there.

I'm trying to train myself right now during finals.

and about priorities, not sure about other states, but I know here in california we are far more different than other grad students. i envy their lives. not a single person i know envies ours or med students. top 1% of the country... but most socially destitute life ever. plus, i'll tell you this... people on my feed have seen it... but when i study i literally cease to feel. like i quit feeling. i am lacking alllllll emotion and feeling. so last night, for example, i ate and ate and ate... i wasn't hungry... i just wanted to feel something. i know it's not all that uncommon in law school to be unable to feel anymore when you've turned into this studying beast, but it has made the majority of my class put on a ton of weight.

am i even making sense? i hope i am. I'm studying right now for finals, so i think i make even less sense than usual.
