NSV! I finally lifted!

My friend gave me the courage to get myself into the testerone-filled free weights section of my gym and I done it! I lifted! I even continued to lift after he left me, despite the looks I kept getting. I was the only woman in there, and it was scary, but it was no where near as bad as I thought. I just concentrated as much as I could on what I was doing, and I was pleased to see how much calories I burnt.
Can't wait to do it again :-)

Thank you! It was really fun, WAY better than cardio, which I DETEST
I will check that group out, thank you :flowerforyou:0 -
Good for you! I was intimidated by the "boy's" section of my gym at first, but now I'm used to it. Makes me feel like a tough cookie to set up the squat rack
Hope you like lifting going forward--I'm loving it!

Good for you!! I felt the same way when I started, and now I'm totally used to it! I'm so used to being the only woman in the free weight section, that it sometimes seems strange to me when another woman comes over. Keep at it! You'll get results with free weights!0

Great job! Soon it will feel weird to be in other sections of the gym (or maybe that's just me).0

Great job! That is an awesome NSV!!
Soon you'll be used to the "men's area" of the gym, and people won't give you those looks as much. I'm the only girl in my gym too, and nobody bats an eyelid as I'm there so much.0 -
This is SO great to hear! I've been lifting for 8 weeks in the women's section of my gym but earlier this week, I maxed out on the one arm dumbell row at 30 pounds. That section does not have dumbells heavier than that. My coach is switching my routine in 10 weeks and that might mean I have to move downstairs with the scary boys (yes, my husband laughs at me).
I'm glad to read here that other women feel empowered by it!0 -
That's awesome! I can't wait to join a gym and get in the testosterone section!0
