Growing your own veggies?

There is a community garden at my apartment and I secured a plot. I have had a flower garden before, but this will be my first vegetable garden. Do any of you grow your own veggies? I am looking for some tips on the best ones to grow for a beginner. I would love to have cucumbers and tomatoes for sure, but I don't know what else.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Cucumbers and tomatoes are a great start! Beans, peppers, radishes and green onions are also easy to grow from either seed or plant starts. And don't forget herbs! You can grow herbs among your veggies. Try oregano, basil, and mint.0

Thank you! I have never liked peppers, but beans and herbs are a great suggestion.0

Lettuces and spinach are also easy, as are potatoes (you can do these in bags). Summer squash is a big plant but very prolific. A great book to read is Square Foot Gardening by Mel Batholomew.0
