How much do you weigh? Are you following the calorie recommendations MFP gave you? I don't think you can be because 1200 is their minimum, and you are working out on top of that. Try whatever they told you to do for one week.0
-
First of all, 1200 calories is probably way too low. Second of all, you're probably vastly underestimating the amount of food you eat. If you were in fact exercising for 6 hours a week and eating 1200 calories, the chances of you not losing weight would be slim to none.0

Without seeing your diary, I wonder if you are getting a good macro spread. I find that my weight really just does not budge when I'm eating a lot of sugar and carbs from non-fruit/veg sources.0
-
Are you measuring your food? I find I really underestimate how much I am eating and need to measure to get an accurate calorie count.0
-
There are many variables, too much exercise, too many carbs or simple carbs. Open up your food diary and people can give you suggestions. I eat 1200 calories, but days that I am really active I have protein shakes or something healthy extra to supplement my calories. Feel free to look at my food diary to see what I am eating. Good luck!!0

Honestly, there isn't much I can say without more information.
Only thing I DO know, is you can't expect much of a change from one week, especially with exercise.0 -

I would ignore any response that isn't "wait longer than 1 week before declaring that nothing is happening"
Your weight can fluctuate up to several lbs IN A DAY.
1 week is not long enough to be able to tell anything.
Be patient.0 -

second comment. Figure out these values and what they stand for. Eat under TDEE. Eat over BMR. This is how I got to my goal weight.0 -
I eat healthy, a lot of salads and vege with me recomended protein I know people say 1200 is to low but I eat a lot of good foods! I meausre everything i eat and stay away from sugars, bad cars, alcohol and oft drinks.
With doing my 1hr workouys a day I have lost 2.5kgs since starting. I guess i was just impatient haha!
I will open up my dairy anyways and you all can see what I eatMy starting weight was 99.1kgs.
Thanks anyways,

You're actually averaging a bit under a thousand per day, not even counting the exercise.
This might seem like a great idea now when you want fast results, but it's usually not a good long-term solution for a couple of reasons:
1) It increases muscle loss, which means that you often end up looking flabby even after you've lost the weight.
2) For most people, it makes it a lot harder to actually stick with it in the long-term.
Also, you seem to have your fats set to 15%. Is there a reason for this? I linked to page 2 of this because it's where the recommendations are:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fat/NU00262/NSECTIONGROUP=2
but they recommend 20-35% of your diet coming from fat. I'd also recommend you read the section at the bottom of the page about "what about very low-fat diets?"
I think you're doing a great job getting your veggies and protein in.0 -
Hi.
Having looked at your food diary you can be applauded for eating a healthy balanced diet but I would say you are eating too litte. You don't seem to be eating back your exercise calories.
At the end of the day you should be eating 1,200 NET calories. So whatever you earn during exercise make sure you eat.
Try increasing how much you eat on days that you have worked out. Add in a few healthy snacks or if you feel you will struggle to physically eat more chose higher calorie foods at meal times to make up the difference.
Good luck.0 -

It does look like you're getting a lot of good, healthy food. The thing is, when people say you need to eat more, it's not just about the quality of the food, your body needs more energy (more calories). It needs a certain amount of protein, carbs and fat to function at its best. Most days you are undereating, even before you take exercise into account.
In the short term, getting less than your 1200 (net) probably won't stop you losing weight . The fact you can't see a change on the scale yet probably has more to do with water retention from all that exercise. Long term though, your body really needs more fuel, especially if you're getting a lot of exercise in. The body is very good at adapting to the amaount of fuel it gets, and if you consistently undereat, your metabolism will slow down to compensate. One of the ways it can do that is to reduce the amount of muscle mass, which is probably not really the kind of weight loss you're looking for.
My advice: don't worry, and see what happens after a few more weeks. Weight loss is not linear and your weight is constantly fluctuating anyway. Eat more, try to get to your 1200 a day, and when you exercise, eat more to compensate. That won't stop you losing, because you will still have a significant calorie deficit worked out by MFP.
In the meantime, you might want to look into the possibility of eating even more than 1200. Lots of people have found that they can eat more and still lose consistently, providing their bodies with optimal nutrition and maintaining as much muscle mass as possible.

dont worry, you'll lose it once the metabolism gets faster (:0

I'll be honest.. a week isn't much time to decide whether or not something is working. Your body generally needs up to a month or so to catch up with what's happening and for it to decide whether what you're doing is working or not.
That being said, a lot of people find that 1200 calories is simply too low. Are you eating back any of your exercise calories? Weighing/measuring your food? If not, I would recommend doing both.
Most people think that having a large deficit will equal quicker weight loss. It'll start out that way, but eventually your body will realize what's going on and that it isn't receiving the proper nutrition. When this happens? Weight loss slows or stops completely. They key to healthy, successful, long term sustainable weight loss is to find that number where you're getting the right amount of nutrients AND your body still loses weight.
I would start with finding out your BMR (you can find that on this site!) and then I would find out your TDEE. Once you've done those two things, I would deduct 20% off your TDEE and eat at that point for awhile to see what happens.0 -

Hi. I've been doing a 1200 calorie diet and stalled after 14lbs. I was so discouraged since I was eating only 1200 calories AND working out 5 days a week. I know my net was less than 1200 because most days I would not eat back my calories burned in exercise. The past week, I started always eating back my calories from exercise and lost 2 lbs...my net was 1200 calories. Try doing that and maybe your results will be like mine. I am so relieved......0

Thanks to everyone for the replies. My sister has told me i am eating to little too but i find if i eat more i feel sooo guilty lol. I will definately give it a go though!!0

When I see posts like this I just have to reply. Get away from the scale. Weigh weekly at the most. But don't wrap your entire success up in a number on the scale. Instead measure. Write down weekly and then compare week to week. I went a month in a half without the scale moving but I was losing an 1/2 inch to an 1 inch a week.
My body was changing even though the number on the scale was not moving. Muscles need water when you are working out a lot and retain more. Muscle weighs more than fat so you are getting stronger. Most importantly you need to eat back your work out calories. Even if not all try hard to eat them back. When I started eating mine back I saw even more results. Your body needs fuel. If you are eating 1200 and burning 600 you are asking your body to live off of 600 calories. Hope this helps. Oh and measure, measure, measure. Big motivator for me. Good Luck!!!0 -
Haha yeh i do have a problem with stepping on the scales everyday! I guess i don't want to go backwards and i need the proof that im losing weight :S
I'll try my hardest to stop!! As for the measuring, i started that last week and i will give it two weeks until i measure again. That should keep me motivated.
I didnt know you had to eat back the calories you workout haha.. Because i workout once i put my little boy to bed at night its a little bit harder to do that. Gonna up the food intake today i rekon and ill see how that goes
Thanks for the helpAppreciated!!
P.s Anyone looking for a friend? Im 23 and would love some friends to chat to about this, my partner isnt very in to it0 -
I would agree with at least getting a net of 1200 calories. For the first month or so I ate 1200 calories total. I was losing weight, BUT found that I was angry all the time (which was probably from the hunger). I finally decided (after reading posts) to up my calories a bit/ eat back exercise calories. Since then I've kept losing weight (only 11 pounds so far after I upped my calories). BUT I'm amazed that I can eat so much and still lose weight. If you do up your calories a bit give yourself more then a week to see results. :-)0

Seconded! Only weigh yourself every 5 weeks- then you won't get hung up on small fluctuations. It takes time and dedication.0 -
What kind of exercising are you doing? You might be just gaining muscle which is why you haven't lost weight on the scale yet. Don't give up, keep trying it'll work. Give it at least a month before you start having doubts.0
