How well would you do

Without MFP? Or any other calorie logging/fitness site?

I will admit, I am terrible at remembering to log everything I eat and do. But had I not been intorduced to this site and SEEN what kind of crap I was putting in my mouth, I'd still be over weight, I wouldn't give 2 rat turds either. I have people on here that know I don't log everything, but will still hold me accountable for the things I do.

I would have failed without MFP and my MFP buddies

    I honestly would have failed. My mother told me how many calories to eat in like July of last year and I could never figure it out. Now, I feel like a genius lol.

    not as well, I think I'd lose some weight but would be trying to figure out why the scale isn't moving after a while \m/

    Failed. I tried the south beach diet fad without logging and gained more back than I lost. Something so simple yet so important i think.

    I would have kept gaining weight, had I not joined MFP, probably. I was on steady upward spiral in July of last year, and I thought 30 minutes of cardio per day would negate that canoli, pizza, and bagel with egg and cheese I ate...

    I love this site and the friends I've made. I used to write everything I ate in a journal with the amount of calories until I discovered this site, it makes it so much easier. Not sure where I'd be without MFP... Probably still writing everything out :)

    Since using MFP and seeing what serving sizes really are and how much I was actually eating it was an eye opener. I do log every. single. thing. that I put in my mouth no matter what. I get a bit obsessive when I track my calories and it gets to the point where yes, I could eyeball something and know exactly how much it weighs and how many calories are in it but I still prefer to weigh and measure and track my food because it's amazing how quickly things add up. There have been days where it's not even dinner time and I'm very close to my calorie limit.

    Even after I drop the amount of weight I'm looking to lose I'm still going to use MFP because it definitely holds me accountable, especially on the weekend when I tend to over indulge.

    I have failed time and time and time again without MFP. It's been SO crucial for me! Without friends to hold me accountable and be supportive or the tools to know what exactly I'm eating/how many calories I'm burning, I'd be totally lost. I've learned SO much from this site and I definitely plan to use it long after I've reached my goal!

    Well, I've only lost a pound because I just really started two days ago (despite joining three years ago! :tongue: ). But I'm hoping I do well here - I'm already thinking to myself, "What if I start gaining, or blow this off, etc. etc.? People will start noticing if that ticker at the bottom of my posts never moves!" So hopefully this place will keep me on track.

    I've not been here long but I've definitely found it the best way of tracking how many calories I eat per day

    Used to keep a food diary in a notebook but it started being a chore - this is so much quick and easier and though I've not lost much weight yet I've at least lost some :)

    So without MFP I'd fail!

    I was doing fine without it, just calculating the calories up at the end of the day, but sometimes I forgot things I ate or had trouble finding nutrition information. So MFP is way easier, but with pretty much the same results

    I lost 40 lbs without MFP, so I think I could have lost the rest. But it certainly helped a lot.

    I ran & worked out for 2 years before I found this site and I was always vitamin deficient and I ate healthy foods that ended up hurting me. I love the friends I made on here , I have learned more about how to eat properly for the body I have to become the body I want.

    This. The first day I started this site, I logged some of my food, and before even logging dinner and snacks I'd gone over my limit by hundreds. I probably deleted it because I was just in so much shock of how much I was actually eating.

    Before this I used my handy dandy calorie king book, and I hand looked up everything, and wrote it out haha.

    total failure. I've told myself before that I was going to get my act together and never could stick with anything.
    this site, my friends & family on the site are keeping me motivated.
    having people working hard along side of me has made it possible.
    when I see progress from my friends it makes me smile like an idiot and makes me want it that much more.
    and NOTHING feels as good as having your friends support & praise you for what you are doing.

    couldn't have come this far without MFP (end commercial)

    I managed to lose about 70 pounds before joining MFP - but logging on here every day has certainly given me a more realistic appreciation of how much I'm eating and helps me keep in control. x

    I did just fine for years without it. If MFP disappeared, I'd track my calories and act like a jerk somewhere else.

    MFP is just so convenient, I can do both in the same place.

    I would probably be so bad. Not that I wouldnt' try to eat right but there are some foods I just don't realize how high the calories are...

    I lost a significant amount (71 pounds) without MFP or any other "help" from anyone or anything. However since being here I have learned about BMR and TDEE -- logically I knew about both before, but I didn't know how to calculate either. It helps, but if MFP shut down tomorrow I could continue by myself.

    Did South Beach for a little while ( a very little while) lost 5 pounds, gained 15 back when I stopped... which I guess you're not really supposed to ever 'stop' -.- now I'm down 15(: but I look way better than I did when I weighed 140 *then* because now I'm running and I'm more toned... I'm losing it in the right places(:

    Yeah, when I think about it, I was probably eating between 3,000-3,800 every day and wondering why I was gaining 20 pounds a year :sick:

    I eat 1,250 a day (plus whatever calories I get form running) and it's plenty of food for me(: I LOVE counting calories!!! (:

    I haven't been on here long, but I'm loving it so far, and have lost pretty well! I LOVE that I can use my computer, my phone, or my kindle fire!

    The friends I've made make it awesome too, and make me WANT to log on and do good. Unfortunately, aside from family, I'm the most overweight person I know. Everyone I work with is a skinny little thing, and they eat candy all day long, so I just can't relate to them about diet matters, so having my MFP friends is AMAZING!!!! It's like finally having someone else who has walked in my shoes.

    I think I'll do so much better with it and be able to stick with it for the long haul because of the friends.

    Before doing MFP I was on WW. My husband got sick and ended up in the hospital right after I started so there were weeks on end when I wouldn't log my food. However, I still thought about each food choice I made. Is this good for me? Do I really WANT to eat this? Am I actually hungry? For me it just became a habit, and I'm OCD so when I get a routine i stick to it. Also, even though all of this happened during the Thanksgiving/X-mas/New Year holiday, I still managed to show a loss every week.

    I don't plan to spend the rest of my life logging into a website to track my food, but I don't have any desire to get back up in weight either. Making it part of my daily routine to actually think about what I am eating (and how much), whether I log or not, will help me achieve both goals.

    Before I found MFP I logged food by hand--it worked fine. MFP does make it easier to track multiple micro and macro nutrients though.

    I don't think I would be anywhere close. I never realized just how many calories a day I was eating until I started on here.

    I would have been able to do it, but it would have taken MUCH longer and I would not have met all my SUPER AMAZING friends!!!

    My big weight-loss win wasn't with the help of any external plan or diet. Senior year my best friend and I decided to work out together to lose college weight for graduation. We motivated each other to hit the gym 5 times a week for 30 minutes, and I pledged to eat a big salad for lunch 3 times a week and give up mozzarella sticks. Went from 148 to 133 by graduation day, and nowadays I hover around 128-130. I am enjoying MFP as a handy tool as I slim down and tone up for my wedding in October.

    I don't think I would be as successful without MFP. I am your typical yo-yo dieter and have been great at it for years :frown:

    With MFP, I have met so many wonderful people who inspire me to continue moving in the right direction, which is to learn what works for my body, lose weight and keep it off for good! I love MFP and consider it to be a healthy addiction for me :smile:
