Weight Loss and Menopause - Help please!

Any ladies out there going through Menopause or Post Menopause and have had success losing weight? Let me tell you, I can feel my middle spreading as I type this. Please let me know what has worked for you as far as diet, exercise, vitamins, etc. I'm new to this "menopause" thing and can use all the help I can get. Thanks in advance!

    I wish I knew a secret but I'm in the same boat! All the things that worked all my life up until this point do not work anymore!!!! It's like my metabolism has turned into a sludge machine. And all the weight wants to go to my gut and boobs. Even if I don't gain it all just wants to shift to the middle. Ugh. Which causes me to panic and do too much cardio to burn burn burn....but then I'm neglecting my strength training.

    Menopause sucks!!!!!!!!!

    The best advice I can give to you...and myself is -

    DON'T GIVE UP - the fact that we still care and are proactive about our health makes us awesome:bigsmile:
    STAY CONSISTENT WITH DIET AND EXERCISE (when I 'fall off the wagon' at this phase in my life.. the results are much more devastating (lumpy and fat) then a few years ago)
    DRINK LOTS OF WATER (I suck at this, trying harder starting today!!!)

    I'm feeling your pain. There are many days that I find myself asking "what is the use?" because no matter how good I eat, workout, run, lift, etc., the middle doesn't seem to go anywhere. The muffin-top is horrible. if I had the $$ i would go get liposuction but that isn't an option.

    I'm with you!! Menopause really sucks and it feels like no one else understands! Where did the belly come from? I've gained and lost weight before and never had a belly! If anyone figures this out, please be sure to share with all of us!

    Can I just say that I look 5 months pregnant if I don't suck my stomach in? I have to really suck it in all day long. I long for the days when I had a flat stomach... I guess I just need to keep doing cardio/crunches and control my intake and hope for the best. In the meantime, it's good to know that there are others who understand :ohwell:

    I'm right there with you. I have never had this much trouble losing. Mine is my upper body and stomach. I will say that I'm not giving up. I just joined the group eat more to lose and following the New Rules of lifting for women. It seems a lot of the ladies in that group are having good success and they are older too. I think we just need to go about it in a different way now!
