Sometimes when I feel kind of restless I do a second round, but in general, no. I tire myself out for the most part.
  • Yes, I feel kind of restless, especially when I have rest days (like today).

I feel like that right now! I don't think there's any harm in adding in extra exercise to burn off some energy. You'll sleep better, that's for sure.

But if you've already burned a lot of calories through cardio for the day or done some strenuous lifting, you should keep the second round of exercise simple, like an evening walk, some light hatha yoga, or maybe just cleaning part of the house you would otherwise have left undone (clean out your closet, for example).

You might be surprised how just moving your body a LITTLE can be satisfying, too. (Although I know treadmills and the like can become addictive.)

Anything's better than sitting at the computer, but you don't want to overdo it and mess with your metabolism by having too much of a deficit. Let yourself burn off the energy you feel, but keep it light and easy!
  • Yes, definitely. However, I do not push myself to my limits or to failure every day. The idiom, "no pain, no gain" does not necessarily apply here. Extra exercise puts a lot of stress on your body and this can actually impede fat loss/strength gains, whatever your goal is to become healthier/more fit.
