Crunches, Injury question?

Ok so i started doing crunches 40 regular crunches 20 side crunches, and then 40 like under belly crunches like on the 30 day shred Jillian M. workout...my neck started getting sore but i thought it was the weather, then it got really sore and i then started getting headaches which was a little over a week ago, the headaches went away for 3 days and came back along with my still sore neck..so would this neck and head tension be from doing so many crunches? I have stopped doing the crunches but still can seem to shake the tension in my head or my sore neck..i feel like ive been making a growling face for a week lol its horrible.

I also have stopped all other working out thinking that the tension would let up and i could go back to working out so far its a no go..

Sounds like your form is wrong. U should not be using your neck at all...all abs!!!! Sometimes I put my hands on the muscle I am trying to work to make sure I am engaging it properly..

This is exactly what I was going to say. If you are holding your head and neck correctly it will not hurt from the crunches.

I tore a muscle in my back / shoulder and ended up having to go to the chiropractor to get 4 ribs popped back in, neck adjusted and my shoulder popped back into place because I was doing crunches wrong. I was unable to do any upper body work for about 3 weeks while the torn muscle healed - but it can take much longer depending on how severe the injury is. I would be very careful if I were you, go get checked out and if / when you get back to doing crunches, make sure you're using the correct form! Good luck!
