Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012 -- HRM? Logging?

So I have been using Your shape: Fitness evolved 2012 on my xbox kinetic... and it has been kicking my butt!! I am been very surprised, and very happy with this game.

However, as has been mentioned before, the calorie estimation seems to be very low, so has anyone ever used a heart rate monitor with this game? I will be sweaty, with lungs heaving, short of breath and dying for 30 or more minutes... and the peppy trainer lady will be like "you have burned 120 calories" and I'm like "***** PLEASE... "

Also, I have been attempting to log a mean value between the estimation given in the game and the estimation given by MFP, but I have no idea what to log some of the workouts as. The majority of the workouts seem to be intervals of faster cardio like moves that focus on the muscle group of interest, followed by strength building exercises.. repeated over and over and over again (LOL).

I have by "profile" set correctly in the game, and I am currently waiting for a couple HRMs that my boyfriend and I ordered online.

Yes, I use a heart rate monitor and yes the calories the game estimates being burned is very low.

How far off do you find them? 2X ?
I am just wondering if I should continue to log as "Calisthenics, vigorous" or if I should be decreasing this value.

Thanks for your info :) .

I use my HRM with mine and they match up quite well. About 10 calories out per half an hour.

Edit: Mine is the original version, not 2012 - don't know how different they are.

Yeah I'm not sure either. Thanks for the info! I hope I get the HRM in the mail soon, because I would hate to be over estimating.

I didn't have a clue what I was burning so I got a HRM. Now I'm just worried it's reading too high! It definitely kicks your butt, huh? I love just picking stuff I need to work on randomly.

Edited to ask if the trainer lady bugs you at all... she's SO freaking nice! She makes me swear sometimes.

I have played both. The first game is supposedly slightly more generous while the second game points and laughs at you. I have a hard time deciding what to log exercise as for the game.

I am going to try mines out today actually. I used to trust the calorie count on the game because its Xbox and a big name company that makes the game.

But ever since I got my hrm I realize there is no way for it to tell how many calories your have actually burned.
It has no idea of what your heart rate actually is.

I use the first version of this game myself and think the calories are grossly underestimated, but I just log what it says I burned. It works for me, but if you want a more accurate calculation I would suggest a HRM.

Edit: The trainer lady is sooooo annoying. Shes so nice and encouraging and i'm just like SHUT THE F*** UP, as sweat is coming from everywhere and I'm dying trying to catch my breath.
