Can anyone let me know whats the best way to burn fat on a spinning bike/exercise bike. My bike is classed as a body sculpture bike but it's built like a spin bike.
I don't want to build too much muscle right now, I just want to burn cals and burn fat so is it best to have light resistance or none? Or to switch it up?
I'd like to exercise today so let me know as soon as you can Please don't guess though!

Are you eating at a calorie deficit? if so, you do not have to worry about building muscle.
Besides, having more muscle increases the rate at which you burn calories/fat.
And i would recommend mixing it up, purely on the basis that it will stop you from getting bored and you will therefore persist more with the exercise and so burn more in the long run.0 -
Calorie deficit? I've always had lean legs because when I was 15-17 I did spinning twice a week - 1 hour and yogo once a week... I just scared if I start again I'll develop thos eweird calves some people have :S lol
i'm on 1600cals a day.0 -
yup, you need excess calories to build muscle. 1600 may or may not be excessive, depends you are, but it's unlikely for most. your legs probably looked lean before because of low body fat allowing muscle to show through. burning fat when you have enough muscle underneath can give the illusion of having gained muscle when its just showing through more.
don't be afraid of weird calves (?) just enjoy the work out and keep it fresh0 -
The calves I get worried of getting are the ones where they stand out so much they have like a ledge lol. I like smooth lines
I've been big since I was 10, emotional eater, emotional life lol so back to bike, in resistance, is it just a mix it up variation?0 -
Why not try a spin class in a gym to get an idea of how they do it or refresh your memory?
I done one this morning and it was a mixture of fast sprints with no resistance and standing up peddling with high resistance. It was my first class and I can tell you I haven't sweat that much in a short period of time ever before!0 -
I have agoraphobia and tend to faint when doing anything in a gym or fitness room.
I did 28 minutes on it with light resistance and then a few strong resistant cycling standing up. The seat is so uncomfortable that I was in agony when I finished so I need to get it changed, it was horrible0 -
Wear a HRM, if you have one, and try to stay in your fat burning zones....spinning takes you to anaerobic zones really quickly! Keep an eye on where you are if your goal is to burn fat.0
