High School Reunions-- Yes or No?

Grew up in a very small town in Oklahoma. My 23rd year HS reunion is this weekend (yes we have one every year) but I haven't been since our 20th. I am going tomorrow for 4 reasons:

1) To see some really great friends again (a lot of them we have kept in touch with through the years)
2) To show off how great I look (compared to HS) to show that I am happy and healthier .
3) To have my high school flame eat his heart out (he has been married 5 different times and has 5 kids (1 with each ex wife) WOW I dodged a bullet there.
4) To show all those that didn't vote me most likely to succeed that I have Far succeed them.

So is it wrong of me to flaunt what I have worked so hard for? The last few days that i have had, I can tell you it is going to make me feel really good ........... But does that also make me a bad person?

Something happened early this week that has shook me to my core, and I hate that it bothers me, because this person isn't thinking twice about what they did to me.

So now I am questioning if I should even be going tomorrow? Am I going for the wrong reasons?

I didn't hate HS, I actually like it but I knew my life would be much better once I left my small hometown.

OH decisions decisions.......

GO! and be proud of your accomplishments! How much do you wanna bet most are going for the same reasons AND throw in some curiosity as well. You may make some amazing connections. Networking is another added benefit. Have a fabulous time.

Take lots of pictures because your MFP friends would love to see you all dressed, with face lit up and happy at such a FUN function.

Btw, the person who could not care less about how they hurt you was never a true friend. Let them go, wish them well and move forward, upward and onward. You are a fabulous woman who deserves to be surrounded by caring people like yourself.

There's really only two reasons to go a high school reunion.

    1. You had a great high school experience. Maybe you were a star athlete, a pretty cheerleader, etc. You were near the top of the social food chain during your high school years and you want to re-live those glory days for a night.
    2. You had a terrible high school experience, but you've had some impressive post high school achievements. If you fall under this bucket, you were probably a social outcast. Maybe you lost some weight, have a really high paying job now with an awesome car and place, and if you're a man, your wife/girlfriend is really attractive. You want to show off your post high school success to those who made your life unpleasant during high school.

For those who didn't fall into those two buckets, there's really no point to the high school reunion. Just a part of the past.

I attended my 30th recently. I was amazed at how old those people had become!!
I went mainly out of curiosity....I had nothing to prove to anybody....just wanted to see some old friends...ended up having a great time and looking forward to the next one.

Last summer I attended by 25th - first one ever. I did not enjoy high school for the most part, and the b!tches who made my life h3ll were not at the reunion. Instead, the other classmates, who I didn't not get along with but just didn't hang out with were very nice and I had a BLAST.

Can't wait for the next one!

I went to my 15th, which was some time ago. I'm hoping they have one in 2015.

I loved HS, but because I had a graduating class of 1,200 students, it was nearly impossible to even know half the people I graduated with. Soooo.....My 10 year HS Reunion landed on my 29th birthday (no I wasn't a demote, they just scheduled the party very late in the year). My friends and I skipped the reunion and we had a party. We checked facebook later, and saw that none of our friends went anyway.

i have no desire to go to my HS reunions. I've kept in touch with everyone i would have wanted to....and for others who i am merely "curious" about, there's Facebook :)
