So far I've lost about over 15 pounds. I was *gulp* 198 lbs and I went to 181 lbs gained a little back, now I'm 184 lbs. Problem is I'm stuck. I run track and I make sure my intake(not so much that I would be considered starving) is less than my outtake. I make sure most of my foods are healthy. I do push ups, sit ups, yoga stretches, and a whole bunch of anaerobic exercises to help burn off the fat in 3 sets of 5 reps. When I eat snacks I choose healthy(most of the time) and only one time between meals. Why am I so stuck?! Gah!

My goodness, look at that deficit! You need to eat more.0

just curious...how are you calulating that you burn over 3000 calories a day? if you really are burnung that much, you should eat at least half of that plus your normal whatever0
-
I looked at your diary, and was shocked at the low amount of calories consumed with the amount of calories being burned. Granted the principle behind weight loss is consume/exercise off more calories then your BMR requires, you are burning an extremely large amount. At a certain point your body won't lose, because it has to have something to fuel it on. If you look at athletes, they eat a lot of calories because they burn so many. This is why so many people talk about "starvation mode." You have to have something for your body to actually function on.
So in short, because you are burning way more calories then you probably should be, your body is holding onto every little thing you put into it. This is why you won't lose, until you adjust your diet and exercise. Also you are not hydrating, this can lead you to the hospital for dehydration with all the running you do.0 -
I suggest you eat back your exercise calories and maybe even raise your calorie intake. It worked for me!0

eat eat eat... I went through the same routine thinking the less I eat and the more I exercise the quicker I lose... it took me a LONG TIME to finally listen to the people on here and once I started eating as many back that I burned my body has made big changes!! don't give up and just eat!! (healthy of course)0

Oh...Never really considered that. I mean usually thought just getting above the starvation line was fine but I see it is not so. Thanks guys.
@Dave
I am a sprinter in track and we usually practice for 2 o/ sometimes 2 (1/2) hrs plus I calculate how much I burn in (school)gym, how much I walk between classes 5 min plus the time I take to walk around during lunch and after school which is usually 10-15 min. Plus it's the estimated time I take to walk up and down stairs. Trust me I walk up and down stairs a lot!
All those calories I burn is all that (above) added up.
I drink more water during track and sports. I try to when I'm not exercising but I allow myself to fall into temptation w/ Orange Juice/Milk/ Tea.0 -
More protein. 35 grams is not enough for any adult for a day. At least double that.0

you should be eating at least 1500 cals a day with 25-30% protein. It might be scary to increase your cals but do it for 2 weeks and see what happens.
good luck0 -

a sprinter at 180 lbs...I would say eat at least 125 g of protein and get some good fat...almonds...olive oil...
peanut butter (mo sugar added)0 -

I agree--125 would be a good goal on protein, and you need a lot more good carbs and fat too, IMO. I honestly don't know how you do that much exercise on that few calories. I swear I would pass out! The other posters are correct, you've got to eat more if you're gonna train like that. Don't be afraid to eat more--a lot more! You'll break that plateau and you'll be able to perform better in your training too. Best wishes!!:flowerforyou:0 -
I'm sure you've heard that eating small amounts 5-6 times per day keeps your metabolism going, which can help with weight loss.0

this is actually a myth. recent research shows meal frequency is a personal choice and has no effect on metabolism. it may help with hunger but it can also cause hunger so....

I believe it!! But you still need to fuel the machine (your body)...you obviously have the will power, so eat more food girl, and you'll be unstoppable! :bigsmile:0 -
I will, thanks!:blushing:0

Walking burned calories are over estimated according to my experience.
120 min of "Walking, 2.0 mph, slow pace" -Gave me a burn of 322
For spinning class gave me= 329 --- only 129 more then walking. In spinning I sweat a lot!
There is no way that I burned 322 walking in the mall.0 -
