I went mad.

Have been dieting for 15 days. Day 16 and it started with a chocolate milkshake - and then I went mad...and ate everything I could find. I need to get back on the wagon...but I think I ate that too. Feel so rubbish now and don't know if I've overdone the diet and that's why I've ended up here. Moderation and I are not friends. Some words of help and hope would be helpful. jdm120

    You can do it.
All paths are not smooth. The key thing is how you handle the bumps in the road.
One day way far off the path isn't great, but it's just one day.

To avoid having his happen again, consider how extreme your diet was before. Do you need to plan in some more treats? Were you trying to lose too quickly?

    Good luck!

Make Sure ur not restricting yourself too much, I allow my self a lil bit of everythin whenever I want, although I do have a full cheat day on a Sunday...but I think if u let urself have a lil bit of everythin u won't want to go overdrive on it when u have a day off the diet x

I do that - once I start slipping, I fall right over! lol
Usually, that would be it - end of diet.
But.... I have found since being on here, that I have still logged my food diary accurately, even on a bad day & for some reason it seems to help me get back on the wagon the following day.
I find my friends quite motivating too & by keeping myself occupied tapping away commenting on their efforts, it keeps my mind off food!

Be strong, think of how great it will be to reach your goal & how much worse you will feel if you give up altogether - you can pull this back. Tomorrow is another day.

    Good luck!

Aww! Lol on eating the wagon too.

You can do it. Maybe reduce your intended loss to 1 lb a week so you can eat a little more and feel a little better. You can always scoop under for a higher deficit, but you still have the option to eat more without seeing the big red numbers.

There's also nothing really wrong with eating maintenance cals a day out of the week just to keep you in good spirits.

It is ok to have what I call a splurge day. Tomorrow is a new day, just keep tracking and go from there. I have my days that I am "bad", I just start new the next day and keep going. Don't let that slow you down. You can do this!

I have found that if I PLAN a cheat meal once every 2 weeks or so, I am not tempted to cheat the rest of the time. you can see by my ticker, it's not hurt my weight loss. In August 2011, I was 252 pounds. 165ish now.

Set your weight loss goal down a notch (to one or one-and-a-half pounds per week) and try to eat "less dense" and more nourishing foods like vegetables to help keep your stomach filled.

If you have 1500 calories a day and eat a dense meal like a cheeseburger and fries, you're done for the day and you have set your body to craving.

Try to go easy on the carbs and starches and sugars, things that create cravings.

try not to let it get you down, it happens to everyone!!

as a couple others have said: make sure you're not restricting yourself too much. setting too lofty a weekly goal and eating too little can make you go a little nutty and more likely to go nuts, trust me, I know!!! I decided I'd rather lose slowly but be able to keep it up longer term so I adjusted my calorie goals to lose .5lbs a week and I've actually been losing closer to 1.5 a week!! I feel way less stressed about it too :)

    good luck!!

The great thing about living healthy is that one bad food day cannot undo all of the work you've put in-as long as it doesn't become a regular thing. I've found that the only time I end up binging is if I left myself get too hungry or restict myself too much. You have to listen to your body and find a healthy, reasonable balance.

Remember that this is where we all started. You are more than the calories you eat per day. This happens to me about once or twice a month...usually right before I have my period.

As everyone has said, tomorrow is a new day. Get up with new intentions. The first task is forgiving yourself...

Somebody had a similar problem earlier today and another person posted this link. I think it describes me and a whole lot of other people here on MFP. Maybe if we can understand what's happening and why we do things, we will have more control. Here's the link:
    http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/how-dieters-fail-diets.html
    Good luck!
Edit: Also, when you finally say "uncle" and follow the guidelines here on MFP for the weight loss plan, you will have a MUCH easier time.

You have to overeat by 3500 calories to put on a pound. I bet even the wagon didn't have than many calories in it and it it did - so what we are talking about one pound. The point about healthy eating is that so long as you are generally eating to plan you can afford the odd wagon even chocolate covered ones.
