Irritated and discouraged....

That scale is making me mad. I am working my butt off. I am doing the INSANITY videos and I also do Karate 3 times a week. I am trying to figure out my caloric intake. I usually stay with in the 1200 area, ( I am 5 5 and 162lbs) But do I keep 1200 with exercise? I only lost 3 lbs. I feel my clothes fitting better and actually zipped up my size 8 jeans today (not comfortably, but they went on, baby steps LOL)
I feel like after 4 weeks I should have lost more. I think I am doing calories wrong?

Just makes me wanna eat mexican food and lots of fries after getting on the scale....

Insanity is a crazy hard workout, right?? Karate is also a good workout. With the 2 of them, you are simply not eating enough, eat back your exercise calories, or at least some of them. Also, do you drink enough water? Half your weight in ounces of water daily. Do you watch your sodium? I have also heard that with some workouts, people don't lose a lot of weight but instead lose inches and that is sometimes better.

Most days I do drink plenty of water. I have not looked at my sodium intake though. So you think I need to increase daily caloric intake? That scares me. I did hear that its good to "shock" your metabolism by going over some days, just getting discouraged and scared of the scale....i might hurt it. LOL

You're working so hard at being fit and to me, it sounds like your body needs more fuel. Here's a link to the group Eat More to Weigh Less. These ladies explain everything far better than I ever could. Good luck to you!

If you are working out that much, you need to eat more. Also look at what you're eating. You want to make sure it's lean protein and vegies.
Eat 5 to 6 smalls meals a day and on your work out days try adding 200 calories. Do it for 2 weeks and see if it makes a difference, it deinitely should!
Sounds like your body is going into starving mode.
