depends on your workout but I would go up even more on your protein ( about 1g per lb of body weight )

I would say going over on protein is good. You can switch your settings around so that you eat less carbs but more protein. If eating more protein is working for you, stick with it.

    Nicely done.

I hate that fruit naturally has that much sugar.. I love love love fruit and always go over my sugars because of it. I also try to go OVER on my protein as well.. it keeps me full longer.

As far as the vitamins.. I'm pretty sure that if you over your vitamins they naturally get flushed out of your body, but I'm no scientist.

Sugar is from fruits, that should be just fine.
Protein is good to be over in, the default recommendation is too low anyway
    Vitamin C is GOOD!
Iron is just fine. People usually get too little. It's most likely from the Cheerio's because it's a fortified cereal.

I would add some green things in there, vegetables will help get that Vitamin A up, you want to see red there too.

I think this is a fabulous first day. Congratulations!

I know the sugar is alarming but most of it came from fruit so it's all good. If you're concerned about it, though, worry about it later. The important thing right now is to get in the habit of logging and getting your caloric intake under control.

So I basically want all my vitamins in the red?!
As for sugars, it's fine to go over if it's fruit? Or should I cut down on the fruit?

Oh and as for my body type if it matters, I'm 5'4, 162 lbs, proportionate, and as for exercise, I'm trying to get in 30 min workouts 3 times a week (mainly cardio).

Vitamins are good for you and if you do go over, your body will get rid of the excess very easily.

You can cut down on fruit if you think sugar is inhibiting your weight loss, but honestly, you should be just fine as long as you get enough protein and fat.

You are off to a fabulous start!

Are pizza and spaghetti fruits now, or am I missing something?

If your diet was perfect you wouldnt need to work on it. Its better to have a bad starting point so you can see what to fix. Good Luck.

Some may say it's cheating, but I only count added sugar. I don't worry about sugar from fruits and veggies. The American Heart Association recommends no more than 26 grams / day for females and 32 g/day for males of ADDED sugars. I don't know where MFP gets their numbers for sugars.

And I make it a point to go over in protein.

    Good luck!

I wouldn't worry. Some of those (iron, vitamin C, protein) are perfectly fine to be a bit over on. I usually just watch my calories to stay within about 50 (it's better to be over a bit there than under but a whole lot), and my sodium to try to stay under, and then try to be in the red every day on fiber. But I don't stress it too much (well, other than calories)

Are you taking a multivitamin? I find it helps be get balanced vitamin/mineral requirements. Especially if you drink lots of water, as many nutrients are water soluble and get flushed from the body. Also lots of fiber. Veggies are great for that. Don't know if you eat lettuce or not, but I suggest skipping the iceberg and go for green or red leaf.
Overall that is a pretty great first day, better than my first I think. It gets easier. Also look at "mistakes" as opportunities to learn. Welcome to MFP!

Yup I actually just took my multi, along with extra iron, and I take a vitamin C and D pill everyday as well (well try to anyways).
Yeah, when eating a salad I tend to go for the spinach or romaine, which I enjoy both of, couldn't eat salads everyday though, hard for me, as I'm not a HUGE fan of them. Once in a while is okay though.
Thanks for the input! Greatly appreciated!

Make sure to log the vitamins! They should be in the database. If you are tracking all the nutrients, you're going to want to track the amounts in your vitamins as well.

It's HARD to change our habits and on the first day, that's pretty awesome. To change lifestyle habits takes time. And a little pizza once in awhile keeps one from feeling overly deprived too.

Done and done, I took my vitamins right after I took that pic actually, sorry. I just realized after I posted that I should take my vitamins, therefore they weren't on the screen shot :) They are on my intake though.

What you've eaten looks fine, except that there is not a single veggie in there (as I'm not from the US, I don't count pizza as a veggie!).
Australian guidelines recommend 5 veggies and 2 fruits each day - maybe give that a try.
Great start, keep up the good work.
