My NSV - 6 Months of Sobriety

I'd been struggling with alcoholism for many many years and after a series of not very pleasant alcohol related upsets, for example my OH leaving because he could no longer cope with my depression, weight gain and alcohol dependance, I decided to get help for my problem.

I went through a home assisted NHS detox on the 06th November 2011. This was a last resort for me after having tried many many times to quit over the years without any luck and I was desperate.

Anyway today marks my 6 month anniversary. In that time my life has been literally turned around.

I have lost 42 lbs in total and my fitness is greatly improved.

My depression is under tight control, my anxiety is almost gone, I want to socialise whereas before I would hide away or have to be drunk, my confidence is back and I am generally a much much happier person.

:)

Well done. Alcohol is the most potent of dependencies. I stopped drinking 4 years, and four months ago, and hope my battle, and yours, is now over xxx

yay congrats. Good for you. :) I stopped drinking about a year ago and I quit drugs about 5 or 6 years ago. I feel so much better and I have not been arrested or been in any fist fights or had intercourse with possibly diseased strangers. Sometimes things make me crave booze or drugs but I must stay away because I can't get sucked into that lifestyle again.
