Who is on your Facebook friends list?

I thought this was an interesting article. A school principal appears to have posed as a student on Facebook, in order to gain information. Shortly after the profile was called out as being fake, it disappeared and the principal resigned.

Fake profiles are nothing new on the Internet, but many people tend to post information on FB that they might not give out to the general public.
How well do you know the people on your Facebook friends list? Personally, I don't add anyone whom I have never met in person.

Same here, I only have friends on facebook that I know personally. I've been able to reconnect with a lot of people from high school and my old job, which is cool.
I don't know any one of my friends on MFP personally. But no one really knows anything about me on here and it's for the goal of weight loss, I doubt I will ever actually meet anyone from here.0 -
its all family, coworkers and classmates i care to keep in touch with. I had about 1100 by time i graduated its now down to 400.0

Mine is mostly family and people I've met. I have a few people who are just online friends, but I've always been very 'net-savvy'. Started using the internet at the age of ten or eleven, when it was first brought into schools and before anyone had it at home. I've grown up with it, really, since before it was commonly used, and was making my own websites by 12 - I took time to learn how the internet worked, the risks involved and to consider who could see what I wrote. I've never said anything online that was private, that I wouldn't say in public and that I wouldn't tell a stranger if they asked.0

Yeah, that's definitely a creepy thing to do. I remember a couple years back a high school in Philadelphia issued lap tops with webcams to their students. They had the computers set up so they could remotely activate the webcams and spy on the students. The FBI got involved, and the administrators involved are all in deep doo-doo.0
