Is there any low cal, french toast recipes out there? I don't have egg beaters, only egg whites and whole eggs, and no vanilla- anything i can substitute that for?, Anything under 200 cals would be great !!

I'm completely making this up right now so I don't know how it tastes but I would try the egg whites and then maybe...sandwich flats? It might be horrible, hahaha!0

Mix cinnamon and eggs (or egg whites) and dip bread in to coat. Place in heated skillet sprayed with nonfat cooking spray0

Try a little almond extract if you have it for the vanilla.
The cinnamon is an excellent addition to this as well.0 -
I bet if you used half the yolk instead that would help with the calories. Also, I think if you cut the egg with a tad bit of milk (skim) to make the mixture more liquidy. For the bread, what about that whole wheat kind Healthy Life, if it's available near you, or any low calorie bread. Then use sugar free syrup. Huh? huh? what you think?0

No vanilla? Perhaps add a pinch of nutmeg along with the cinnamon Amanda3588 suggested, to add further depth of flavour.0

Skim milk & egg whites with lower cal bread works fine. I usually put cinnamon & nutmeg in mine.0

I just made french toast for my kids yesterday. I used skim milk, eggs, vanilla extract and cinnamon. I used a half a tablespoon of smart balance butter spread under each side of bread in the pan. They weren't greasy and tasted fine. I did sprinkle them with a bit of powder sugar and I did drizzle just a 'little little' bit of pancake syrup on mine. I figured that without the syrup each slice was 150 calories and with the pancake syrup, about 200....that still sucks, but I wonder how bad it would have been had I used a lot of oil for the pan and my usual drenching of syrup. I had two slices yesterday...which of course was not good, but it was my daughter's prom day so we were having a fun day.....gotta have those too sometimes. Still came in at calorie goal for the day...just ate very healthy the rest of the day.0

try this one on for size. My versatile protein sponge cake is only 800 cals for the entire pan, so french toast is def within 400 cals. Plus it has protein!

Under 200 cals....got it.
1 egg beaten= 60 cals, 1 slice of whole wheat toast= 50 cals, 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk ( to whip into egg if you'd like a little fluffier and to add almond flavor) = 15 cals. Cinnamon/Nutmeg or pumpkin spice into egg mix= at most 5 cals. So far we are at ~130. So if you want to add a second piece of whole wheat bread you are still under. Drizzle a tablespoon of honey over french toast = 64 cals and there u go!
Total= 60+50+15+5+64=194 calories for one piece of french toast or
Total= 60+100+15+5+64=244 for 2 pieces of french toast
(****if you want to skip the honey and sprinkle with a tablespoon of powdered sugar instead = 30 cals, but may be dry...I would prefer the honey)0 -
