Protein snacks???

I need some ideas for more high protein foods with little to no carbs. I have a hard time getting in most of my protein for the day. Yes, I know its set high but that is what my Endo recommends, or at least close to it. Anyway - I do eat almonds, beef jerky, eggs, etc but is there anything else out there that packs a serious protein punch without being super heavy on calories and that also has LOW carbs???

greek yogurt is my go to... I eat plain, only 100 cals and 7 carbs for a 6 oz serving. I usually add nuts or berries for some added flavor.0

I usually drink that lite version of muscle milk but I'm going to try making meringue cookies (whip up egg whites until stiff, fold in sugar free jello and protein powder) I just haven't tried it yet. I use Fage greek yogurt plain unsweetened and add either a teaspoon of vanilla or a Tablespoon of cocoa and a bunc.h of stevia for sweetness and you can add protein to it as well..
What helps me is I add the whey protein powder to just about everything, smoothies, thickener for soups/stews, etc. I even put it in my vegan lasagna.
I will be watching this board for ideas. I've heard someone mention some protein balls (like homemade protein bars)
I have seen homemade protein bar recipes on a google search.

I'm not having enough protein either, so will be watching this topic with interest! Thanks for asking! :happy:0

Greek yogurt~ Super high in protein. You can get non-, low- or full fat versions, plain (very tart) or flavored.0

Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, salmon, protein powder. Supreme Protein makes a carb conscious protein bar with low carbs and 20g protein. They taste good.0

I did find "Carbmaster" yogurt at Kroger. They are 60 cals, 4 carbs, and 8 g protein and they taste REALLY good. I eat these a lot. The raspberry white chocolate and vanilla chai are my faves! I may try adding some whey protein to them and see what that tastes like. I am not generally a fan of yogurt.
I love the idea of the meringue cookies. I MUST have the recipe for that. If its in cookie form - I will eat it. LOL I will Google that today!
The Atkins bars are pretty good and usually high in protein AND fiber but 1) they are EXPENSIVE 2) They REALLY upset my stomach sometimes.
I find that eggs ARE a fantastic source of protein but really, how many eggs can a person eat in one day?? LOL!
I do like the EAS Carb Control shakes. Once again... Expensive.
I will check back on this to see what else comes up.0 -
My Fage greek yogurt has 23 grams of protein. And my cottage cheese has 12 grams. I also like Ostrim meet sticks (which are made with ostrich.) They have 14 grams of protein for 80 calories.0

I'm trying to up my protein intake to 30% (105 g). So far the only way I come close is dumping whey into everything, and eating a lot of chicken.0

I'm having a hard time eating all my protein as well!0

cheese, turkey pepperoni, hard boiled eggs....these are a few of my protein favorites0

I keep my protein counts high as well.
How about a protein hot cocoa? A scoop of chocolate protein powder, made with warmed almond milk to reduce carbs (or you can make it with regular milk for the carb / protein tradeoff. I add unsweetened cocoa to boost the chocolate flavor, and a pinch of salt.
I LOVE Quest protein bars, if you don't mind the price (to me they're worth every penny - yum!)
I also do a lot of cheese, eggs, lunch meat, tuna, and cottage cheese.
I love greek yogurt, but it doesn't stick with me as well as more solid proteins, but for a summery treat I like it added to sugar free jello with a scoop of vanilla protein powder - makes a sort of "fluff". Pretty much any flavor combo works. Add fruit if you can spare the carbs.0
