Hey everyone! This is my first post...I'm so excited that I have something to post about! :) I've lost about 7 pounds so far...and I still have a long way to go. I go to a weekly Les Mills class entitled Body Combat as a part of my fitness routine. It is INTENSE cardio...in fact, the first time I did it, I only lasted for 35 minutes out of the full 55. It's kicked my butt week after week...until last week, when it wasn't quite as hard. This week, I could do a move that I could never do before. We do high knees...more of a high knee to both hands kind of thing. The super in-shape girls can get a rhythm goin' when they do the single high knees move...almost like a hard core "running man..." haha. I could never do that...i always just lifted a knee, put it down...lifted the other knee...put it down. But yesterday, I could do the hard core running man too. Somehow it just clicked...and it was hard and I'm hurting a little today, but damn it, I DID IT! Just like the skinny girls. (girly squeal!)

Yay!!!! This sounds like my krav maga class, we do high knees as part of warmup. I hate 'em! But I've also noticed that my level of cardio has increased exponentially since starting classes nearly a year ago. Anyway, good for you! It only gets better from here!

    Body Combat is brilliant!

And I think that's one of teh nicest things about it - you can see how you're progressing. Some of the moves are super-tough, so it's a huge boost when you can manage somehting that you previoulsy couldn't.

I'm still working on getting all the bouncing jumping Muay Thai stuff

Have you tried the new release yet?

Congratulations! Isn't it great when you can do something that you know you couldn't do a couple of weeks ago? I love that feeling.

    Congratulations!
I love BC. I do it about 5 days a week, and I agree that afterwards one gets a "good-high" feeling. I usually stretch more afterwards, I lost some flexibility with training BC, and capoeira. So many kicks and leg work need some extra stretch.
What I like about BC is that one may feel a bit tired before starting, but the music is good, and puts you in the mood to last to the end. You can always pace yourself, and do the right moves. :)

Hi There, sounds like you are getting into the swing of the class.
BODYCOMBAT is the best martial arts based group x class in the world. It is brilliant and only gets better the more you do it. You can begin to concentrate on technique, getting higher, longer and faster with all the moves.

Keep it up you will love it. When you want to try something really high octane, try a BODYATTCK class. These are also Les Mills and are super high burnders for me at least.

    Keep up the good work

I LOVE Body Combat! And congrats on your NSV! I have had similar ones myself... it feels so amazing when you realize you are doing something that you could not do before. My first class was about the same, just struggling to finish. Now I can go for the full time and I focus on my technique and incorporating the advanced moves each time. Stick with it!

Thats a great feeling! Way to go!
  • Well done you!!!

I too love combat and have been doing it for about 6 months now. Stick with it!!! We see so many people turn up for one class and realise what a shock it is and then never do it again. I remember my first time being the only other bloke in a class of women!! But now some weeks do 3 classes of combat a week. So much more interesting than the gym and keep it going...

    Shaun
