What exactly does saran wrap does when used around the stomach area during exercise? does it work?

Makes you sweat more, no real benefit.

    It makes you look ridiculous.

No. Saran wrap/garbage bags/those overpriced body wraps do absolutely nothing to the fat/muscle in your body. Any weight you lose will be gained as soon as you re-hydrate. If quick-fixes sound too good to be true, they are.

    It does the following:

    1) Makes you sweat more.
    2) Makes waste Saran Wrap.
    3) Makes you smell like Saran Wrap.
    4) Makes you look like an improvised condom.
    5) Provides no benefits as far as improving your workout.

That basically sums it all up.

Back in the day they sold "sauna suits" ..... I don't know, maybe they still do. This "weight loss" is water weight. When you re-hydrate (drink water) ... this weight comes right back. Seems silly.

Keep you sodium low (er) and you won't retain as much water.

    Old wives tale.

It could potentially cause heat stroke. I refer to Martin Lawrence's heart attack whilst jogging in several layers of clothing.

It doesn't help, and it's just not a good idea.

I've never even heard of trying this but I don't think it would be very comfortable.

I wrap it around stomachs when I fill up too quickly on the limbs and need to save the rest for later.

Oh I'm a cannibal. You all knew that right?

Why can't people be nice and just give a straight answer?! Why so rude?!

OP -- It helps keep you fresh, and also prevents against freezer burn.

Have you tried the Ziploc Vacuum Bags? It'll kick your saran wrap's butt!

Looking at that body of yours, I would think you ate ALL the protein at one time!

I highly recommend Press and Seal, way better then the traditional Saran Wrap.

LOL!!! you are all just something else.

On a real note though all it does is lose water there is no real benefit from it. The only reasons some people I know do it is for weigh ins some sports require the "player" to weigh only so much so they do this to achieve that during weigh ins and give them some slack on time to achive those few lbs of loss. Or at least that has been my experience.

My mother used seran wrap just last month to attend a wedding. Her girdle broke and it seemed a quick emergency fix for looking slimmer. You know - when you cant go out & buy spanx!!!

Maybe try the Glad Press n' Seal, to keep it in place just where you want it!
